Use ¼" seam allowance unless otherwise stated.


Please read all of the instructions before starting your project.

Materials
• assorted fabric scraps for house, roof & appliqués
• backing & batting, cut ½" larger than pieced house shape
• ribbon, 2" length for chimney
• embroidery floss & needle
• 1 large button, 1" in diameter
• 2 matching mini buttons or beads
• fabric glue & turning tool such as a chopstick
• 60" round retractable tape measure, 2" in diameter

1.    Prepare the tape measure pull. Fold and fingerpress the


fabric for the "cover" as shown. Slip the folded fabric over
the pull and whipstitch in place sewing through the tape in a
couple spots to secure.
2.    Attach the large button to the top side of the fabric- 12.    Stuff the corners and roof with bits of batting so that
covered pull. Set aside. the tape measure will fit snugly.

3.    Follow steps 3 - 9 to make 2 quilted houses. Cut 2 main 13.    Insert the tape measure. Stuff the last corner with bits
floors & 2 roofs and join to make 2 house shapes. of batting. Finish sewing the houses together leaving a ¾"
opening for the tape. Now measure everything in sight!

6.    Fold back the top layer of fabric at the opening and sew 8.    Topstitch under the roof and around windows. Attach

BOOKLET ASSEMBLY

Instructions for assembling the pattern booklet.

Method #1 (best results)


Print the cover on high quality professional matte photo
8½ x 11" paper using a borderless setting. Print the page
with Stitches & Terms on the back of the cover page. Print
the page with step 1 and the page with steps 2, 3, 12 & 13 on
opposite sides of the same paper. Print the page with 10, 11,
4 & 5 and the page with steps 6-9 on opposite sides of same
paper. Fold so that pages are in the correct order. Tie pages
together with a couple stitches at the fold.

Method #2
Print each page on a different piece of paper. Layer pages on
top of each other as follows: Cover face down ; page with
Stitches & Terms face up; page with step 1 face down; page
with steps 2, 3, 12 & 13 face up; page with steps 10, 11, 4
& 5 face down; page with steps 6-9 face up. Fold all pages
in half towards you and tie pages together with a couple
stitches at the fold.
