 Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of Orange (

Citrus Sinensis Linn ) Peeling Extract and Johnson Grass ( Sorghum Halapense

) Extract against Cockroaches.

With the used of electric blender, extract were collected from Orange

Peeling and Johnson Grass to collect the desired mount of extract. There were 3

treatments of Orange Peeling Extract and Johnson Grass Extract (1:2, 2:1, 1:1 )

use against cockroaches. Each treatment there were 3 replicates. Ten pushes of

sprays in each cage that contains 3 cockroaches were conducted to test the

effectiveness of Orange Peeling and Johnson Grass. 30 minutes after, the

number of cockroaches died were counted.

Based from ANOVA test results the F-value is 6.333 and the F-critical

value is 5.14, the decision is to reject the null hypothesis, means that there is no

significant difference on the effectiveness of the proportions of Orange Peeling

Extract is to Johnson Grass Extract( 1:2, 2:1, 1:1 ) against cockroaches. The

result imply that different treatments of Orange Peeling Extract is to Johnson

Grass Extract differs in their effectiveness in killing cockroaches.

Based on the results, Orange Peeling Extract and Johnson Grass

Extract is effective and can be used as a substitute as insecticide against

cockroaches.
