Apple change your game

At the end of 2018, Apple announced that “Apple will start assembling its premium iPhone
models in India from 2019.” The reason being it is to avoid high tariff and provide phones at
a little lower price. However, this is important and good for Apple as it will be now cutting the
import charges directly on the devices and the prices may drop. Well, that's a fair deal.
However, the critical fact here is the main smartphone purchasing bandwidth. The primary
bandwidth in India is either in mid-range or in budget phones. And for that India has many
major smartphone players in the market, and they are delivering great value at a very lower
price, and with every release of new smartphones, the competition is raising and raising.
And hey the facts don't get over yet, the Indian market has not adopted a smartphone as their
primary communication yet. So it is divided into two main parts Smartphones and feathers
phones. Features phones are phones with keypads and not has much-advanced functionality
as of a smartphone, and that is occupied by 56% of the market. In smartphones, it is 44%, and
that market share is dived into Android 67.22%, Windows 20.01%, & iOS 2.23%.

The smartphone companies which are in India although having a good market share are trying
to convert that 56% of feature phone users to a smartphone user like Mi will be releasing Mi-
Go which will be under 6000 rupees, Jio has Jio phone 2 which is a feature phone but also has
provisions for using some of the android applications like WhatsApp, etc. Which means they
are trying to provide a smartphone in the price of feature phone so that people can switch.
But For Apple, I think cutting the costs will not have a substantial impact on the market, as it
already has only 2.23% share. And no doubt there is a decent ecosystem created after prices
drop, but it will not be an as significant hit to the market as Apple is known for its sales.
So I have thought of an option which may be viable to Apple,
Which is get the price of the premium phones to the range of other competitive premium
smartphones in India and have a mobile phone in every price range from premium to mid-
range and budget phones. Yes, Apple is a premium product, and it makes only premium
products but by keeping its iPhone series alive it can also release budget phones and
midrange, and that will give a boost to iOS users in India. As all the major companies are doing
it already Example: Samsung S-series in the premium end and Samsung M series in a budget
phones range and it is the same case with Huawei, Mi, etc. So I suggest a company with that
scale should not only think of today but also about the future of it and having a device in
significant selling segment is also an important fact to cope up with the current and future
market. Till now Apple was concentrating on the western and European markets now when
it is trying to enter the Asian market, I believe they should also think about a new segment.
