DRAFT RESOLUTION 1.

The Social Humanitarian and Cultural Committee

Topic: Ending violence and discrimination against LGBTQ people


with respect to the UN 2030 agenda

General Assembly Third Committee,

Recalling the universal human rights which upon all rights are
universal, indivisible, independent and interrelated, that the
international community must treat human rights globally in a fair
and equal manner on the same footing, and the same emphasis,
and that while the significance of national and regional
particularities and various historical, cultural and religious
backgrounds must be borne in mind, it is the duty of states
regardless of their political, economic and cultural systems, to
promote and protect all human rights and fundamental freedoms,

Stressing the need to maintain joint ownership of the nations


worldwide and to consider LGBT rights as an issue in an objective
and non-confrontational manner,

Undertaking to support its broad and balanced agenda and to


strengthen the mechanisms addressing the issues related to
discrimination and violence against the LGBTQ community in all
their forms,

Reiterating the importance of respecting regional, cultural and


religious value systems as well as particularities in considering the
LGBTQ rights issues,

Underlining that the present resolution should be implemented so


as to ensure respect for all the LGBTQ community members of
every country and also is in conformity with universal human rights,

1. Supports the LGBT rights to be recognised with a strict legal


framework against discrimination;

2. Recommends that Legislature should be passed in such a way


that ensures LGBTQ members are projected positively by the
media;

3. Encourages that the Yogyakarta Principles should be made


mandatory by all countries that are a part of the United Nations;

4. Condemns harassment, bullying and discrimination against the


LGBTQ students in schools and colleges by upgrading
educational facilities that are gender sensitive;

5. Endorses the awareness among adults through media to


reduce family rejections when individuals identify themselves as
LGBTQ;

6. Recommends an amendment in SDG to explicitly include the


LGBTQ community in goals in 1,3,4,5,10 and 16;

7. Emphasises the implementation of counselling and redressal


mechanisms for the LGBTQ members who are subjected to
acts of violence;

8. Affirms the importance of focusing the younger generation on


the track for the greater good of humanity and the LGBTQ
community;

9. Requests higher safety measures from the government’s side


to individuals from countries dominated by stringent religious
laws;

10. Further recommends the establishments of organisations to


curb LGBTQ violence and discrimination issues.
