2021 Areas Climate and Education and Equity and

of Impact
From protecting the environment, to expanding the rights of
women and girls, to demanding economic justice – the next
generation faces complex global challenges. These problems
cannot be tackled by traditional approaches, and responsibility
for solving them cannot rest in the hands of a few. Instead, we
need broad movements that place all citizens, especially young
people, at the heart of solution-building and lasting change.
Environment
Young people today are the first generation living with the
significant effects of climate change and are possibly the last
generation that can reverse course. At both the individual
and hub level, Shapers are passionate about the environment
and the urgent need to preserve our planet. With the right
tools, training and political will, Shapers carry out sustainability
projects to create a future where we can all thrive.
Employment
Access to quality learning and dignified work remains an
upmost priority for young people, as evidenced by the most
recent Shapers Survey. Understandably, education and work
vary from region to region and access is often delineated
against factors including gender, race, income and class. To
help drive truly equitable societies, Shapers advance digital
literacy for all and help impart market-ready proficiencies.
Inclusion
Young people today view diversity, equity and inclusion as
crucial to improving the state of the world. Our differences
enable us to effectively innovate as hubs and build strong
leaders advancing human rights and equal opportunity for all.
Shapers envision a world where young people drive community
engagement, policymaking and systems change, and inspire
collective action for a more equitable and inclusive future.
