II. LESSON DEVELOPMENT

A: WARM-UP: (Timing: 4 minutes)


Teacher (T) writes 3 sentences about herself. Two statements are true and one is false.
E.g.: I went to a party last weekend/ I danced a lot/ I met Brad Pitt. T invites the students
(ss) to discuss in pairs which statement they think is the lie. (Prompt: I think n°__ is the
lie). Now T ask each pairs for their answers. T reveal the correct answer and the ss to
come up with 3 sentences about themselves. Ss take turns to read them out to the class.
In each case, the other ss have to guess which is the lie.
B: PROCEDURES (Timing: 22 minutes)

ACTIVITIES INTERACTION

Lead in: T shows a video and present one question on the ppt (What is the T-ss
video about?), asks them to take notes. Then give them 1 more question ss-ss
at the end of the video (What do you think is the pyramids true function?).
Invites them to work on it in pairs. Then ss take turns to say their answers
to the class. While ss are doing the activity, T divides the board in
sections, and in one-part puts “Mysteries list” and add Egyptian pyramids
on it. Time: 5 minutes

T use the ppt to present the new vocabulary. Time: 2 minutes T-ss

Book: Present the new mystery: Why do we dream? And writes in on the T-ss
Mysteries list. T invites ss to answer it. Write on the board the answers ss-ss
(activity A). Time: 2 minutes

T read the words in blue from the text and sk ss to repeat. Then T invites T-ss
ss to read it individually and try to match the word with the correct ss-ss
meaning (activity B). T gives one example. Then ss compare answers in
pairs (prompt: It means__) and T makes the corrections with the class.
While ss are working on it, T writes some sentences on the board. Time: 4
minutes

T ask the students to discuss in pairs the new exercise on the board. Then T-ss
ss go in front and solve the fill the blanks exercise on the board. Time: 4 ss-ss
minutes

T ask students to choose one mystery from the “Mystery list” and practice T-ss
the 3 questions from activity C with a partner. Then ss report conversation ss-ss
to the class. Time: 5 minutes

SENTENCES

They can’t figure out what the true function of egypt pyramids is.
So they are investigating to get more information about it.
They have the theory that egyptian pyramids were power plants.
They believe they have some explanations for it.
However, they don’t have any proof.
And for some people it doesn’t make sense.
Someday we will solve this mystery.
