SUB: COMPULSORY TO PASS CAT I & II, INTERNAL ASSESSMENT AND

END TERM EXAMINATIONS SEPARATELY.

Dear Students,
Please note the current guidelines for passing criteria in CAT, Internal
Assessment and End Term Examinations:
The weightage of marks for CAT I, CAT II, Internal Assessments and End Term
Examinations is as under:
CAT I : 20 Marks
CAT II : 20 Marks
Internal Assessment : 20 Marks
End Term Examinations : 40 Marks
It is compulsory for students to appear for CAT I & CAT II (Continuous
Assessment Test), Internal Assessments and secure the following percentage of
marks:
CAT 1 + CAT II: The students must secure 30% aggregate marks in CAT I &
CAT II. For e.g. if the total weightage of CAT I and CAT II is 40 marks then the
students should get 12 marks out of 40 for passing the CAT.
Internal Assessment: The students must secure 30% aggregate in internal
assessment. For e.g. If the maximum marks for all internal assessments is 20,
then the student should get 6 marks out of 20 to pass.

It is compulsory to get 30% aggregate in both CAT I & CAT II and 30% in Internal
Assessment separately to qualify to appear in the End Term Examinations (ETE).
Also, in case a student scores less than 30% in aggregate of CAT I and CAT II,
he/she shall be required to reappear in the back paper for CAT on payment of
back paper fee.
In case a student is absent in both CAT I and CAT II, he/she will not be allowed to
appear in the back paper for CAT.
In case the student fails to score 30% in the Internal Assessments ( e.g. does not
score 6 marks out of the maximum of 20 marks) then he/she will be required to
give additional assignments/ quizzes and student seminars before the last
instructional day of the session.
The back paper for CAT exams will be held both in the fall semester and in the
winter semesters. If a student fails in back paper of CAT then he/she will not be
allowed to appear in End Term Examinations (ETE).
It is compulsory to appear in either of CAT I or II to be eligible for the back paper
of CAT. The CAT score will be finally considered taking the best two of CAT I &
CAT II and back paper of CAT exams ensuring an aggregate of 30%.
Hence to pass in a subject, the students should score the following minimum
marks “individually” in each of the evaluation components:

A. CAT I & CAT II aggregate 30% (for e.g. 30% of 40 marks is 12)
B. Internal Assessment 30% (for. e.g. 30% of 20 marks is 6)
C. End Term Exam 40% (for. e.g. 40% of 40 marks is 16)
And an overall aggregate of 40% in A, B, and C will be required for
passing in any subject.
THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
Best Wishes,
