1. Installation
For a new installation we recommend the following procedure:

• Starting the installation of the software ACTIMED with Setup.

• Selection of the components which can be installed.
• Installation of the software.
• If necessary in networks a configuration of the ODBC driver (c.f. 3. LAN Installation).
• Before starting ACTIMED for the first time, we advise you to set the write permissions in
the ConActX directory, so users with restricted permissions can use the installation too.
This may include all subdirectories. Otherwise, the database will be placed to the
VirtualStore by Windows (c.f. 4. VirtualStore).
• Start Actimed and fill in the license information.

2. Update

For updating we recommend the following proceeding:

• Save a backup of the installation.

• Put a copy of your database ACTIMED3DB.mdb into a new directory.
• Uninstall ACTIMED.
• Now start the installation of the software ACTIMED (= Setup).
• Select the different components you need/want.
• The software will now be reinstalled.
• Retransfer the file ACTIMED3DB.mdb into the respective directory.
• Start Actimed and fill in the license information.
• Start the software ACTIMED and control of the data base, if necessary control of the
recognition of the S.P.L. - testing devices.
• Once to update your database, user of the software ConActX-Testing Module should start
the application Actimed4.exe in \CxTm\.
• To update the new functions into the system, please use the function “read functions” in
CxTm.
• Retransfer the self-provided reports into the respective directories.
3. LAN Installation
Because of the constant updates and improvements of the ACTIMED software, we provide you a
description for a LAN installation of the data base.

Proceeding:

• The file Actimed3DB.mdb is copied into a tree on the server.

• For each client the entry of the data sources in the ODBC data source administrator will be
made.

System control -> Administration -> Data sources (ODBC)

For 64-bit systems, please make sure that you are using the 32-bit ODBC Data Source
Administrator! If this is not found in the system control, this can also be manually started under
"\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe".
With "configuration..." the path indication must be set for both data sources:
e.g. D:\tree name\actimed3db.mdb.

Example of a registry configuration file:

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\CxTmDB]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\Actimed_3DB]
"DBQ"="C:\\Programme\\ConActX\\Data\\ACTIMED3DB.mdb"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\CxTmDB]
"DBQ"="C:\\Programme\\ConActX\\Data\\ACTIMED3DB.mdb"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI\ODBC Data Sources]

4. VirtualStore
A well-known source of problems is the “VirtualStore”, which is a part of the operating system
since Windows Vista.

Windows are creating a user-related, so called, “VirtualStore”, in which some folders and files are
mirrored or reflected.

Therefore, unusual effects may occur sometimes, e.g. when the folder C:\Program Files\ConActX\
is mirrored in the folder C:\Users\USERNAME\appData\Local\VirtualStore\ConActX, e.g.:

• By copying the data base of Actimed3db.mdb from the folder C:\Program

Files\ConActX\Data\ of one PC into the same directory of another PC, it might use the “old”
mirrored copy of the VirtualStore, instead of the other one you were actually going for.
• The same could also happen for several import and export procedures.

We recommend you to give the user a full access to the directory C:\Program Files\ConActX,
which happens like this:
• Within the Windows Explorer, select the directory C: \ Program Files \ ConActX, press the
right mouse button and select "Properties".
• In the new window select the "Security" tab and click on the "Edit" button right below the
"Group or User Name" tag.
• Please select the "user (account name \ user)" and after that ", click on "Full access" in the
lower "User permissions" window under "Allow".
• Now click on "Accept" or "OK" to confirm it.
• This should give the user all access and write permissions for the ConActX folder and
subdirectories.

If the VirtualStore has once been activated, it has proven itself as a workaround to move the
ConActX folder from the VirtualStore to a non-mirrored folder (see above). If they do not show their
expected data, they are most likely contained in the folder which was previously moved from the
VirtualStore. In this case, you should copy the database of the previously moved folder to your
ACTIMED installation.
5. Help

5.1 ConActX – “'' is no guilty integer value”.

Start ConActX and check under "Configuration" tab whether values are contained in the fields or
not. If not, select a value in the pull-down menus. Considering that, it does not matter which one
you choose, it must only contain something in it.

5.2 Using Actimed 3 - Layouts in Actimed 4

In ACTIMED 4 there was a little change in the printer layout. To use old ACTIMED 3 print layouts
with ACTIMED 4, a small change to the layout is necessary with the designer. In order to do this,
be sure to follow these steps:

• Before making a change in an existing layout, make backup of it. A layout consists of 3
files: *.lsp, *.lst and *.lsv.
• If the layout files of the ACTIMED 3 test report are not already in the folder
"ConActX\ACTIMED_4\ Reports\Report\", please copy the related *.lsp, *.lst and *.lsv files
into it.
• In this step, the layout must be opened with the program/application “Designer”.
• If there is a test report which has not been edited yet, but is opened in the designer, the
following expression error appears:

This can be confirmed by clicking “OK”.

• To adjust the ACTIMED 3 test report in the “Designer” for ACTIMED 4, the variable
"Ergebnis" is to be replaced by the variable "Gesamtbeurteilung", at all levels.
• After saving, this layout can now also be used in ACTIMED 4.

With ACTIMED 4, there are two new variables for the report available: Hardware_Version and
Software_Version. If you want to use these new variables in your old ACTIME 3 report, you have
to add them within the Designer.
5.3 Display / rendering issues

Here is a small tutorial to help you to solve display/rendering issues with ACTIMED:

• Please check your settings by pressing the right mouse button on the desktop and then
clicking on "Properties".
• In the "Display Properties" window, select the "Design" tab and set it to "Windows -
Classic".
• Within the tab "Settings", you will find the "Advanced" button. Click on it with the mouse and
a window which says "Properties of ............." will appear.
• The “DPI setting” under the “General” tab should be set to “Normal size (96 DPI)”.

If that’s the case, all windows within ACTIMED should be displayed correctly.

If you still have display / rendering issues, please update your graphic card driver and restart
Windows.
