TOPIC Animals live on water


GRADE LEVEL 4
TIME ALLOTMENT 80 minutes

LEARNING COMPETENCIES
CONTENT STANDARD: animals have body parts that make them adapt to land
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: construct a prototype model of organism that has body parts which
can survive in a given environment.
LEARNING COMPETENCY: infer that body structures help animals adapt and survive in their
particular habitat. (S4LT-IIc-d-5)

Specific Objectives:
a. To define what animals live on land,
b. To explain why animals live in a particular habitat,
c. To write the classification of animals according to their habitat.

ENGAGE (10 MINUTES) MATERIALS


A. Review:  Power point presentation
1. Ask: What are the different types of water habitats?  Manila paper
2. Say: I am going to show you an illustration of a fish. You
have to put on the blank the parts name of the fish.

 Dorsal fin

B. Motivation
1. Students will be divided into three(3) groups
2. Say: I am going to show you a picture. I want you to
observe the picture carefully. You have to list down the
animals that you can see in the pond and seas that
presented in the picture.

EXPLORE (25 minutes) MATERIALS
C. Presentation:
a. Ask: what animals have you listed down from the picture?
b. Each group will read their answers.
c. Group Activity A:
1. The teacher will distribute a manila paper and
markers.
2. Each group will list down the difference between salt
and fresh water habitats.
3. Give as five differences between the two habitats.
D. Discussion
1. Presentation of output
2. The teacher will give feedbacks and recommendations.
3. Presentation of the lesson.
Ask:
a. Based on the activity that you had, can you define the
two types of water habitat?
b. Why do animals live in certain places?
c. What do small animals in the pond and sea eat?
d. If we were eliminate the algae in pond, what would
happen to the animals?

ELABORATION (20 minutes)


E. Application
Group Activity:
a. A story will be showed entitled “Mc Donald’s”
Ask:
a. Who is the main character in the story?
b. When the story happens?
c. What animals are mentioned in the selection?
d. What animals do you have in your community?
e. Let me give you a situation. Your family visits the zoo.
Your young brother sees a lion and run immediately
towards the cage. As an older brother should you do?

Ask:
1. What do you called to the place that animals live?
2. How do you know if it is fresh or saltwater habitat?

Evaluate (10 minutes)


G. Evaluation
1. Group the pupils into two groups
2. Every pupil will be given a card with a name of marine
species or kind of water habitat. The cards are shuffled.
3. Each pupil will be going to post his/her card with
corresponding correct answer where the cards is
belonged.

H. Assignment
Test I:
Draw or cut a picture, at least two animals that live in ponds
and sea?
