Laboratory Exercise 2 & 3

TAPING OVER UNEVEN AND SLOPING GROUND

I.Introduction
Taping is the measurement of the land between two points using a measuring tape or
surveyors tape. It requires a two or more than people so that it will be easier to get the
measurement of the field, the both end of the line should be marked that will be measured.
There are two types in taping, taping on the level ground and taping on the sloping ground.

Taping on the level ground is the easy and not difficult if there is not long distance or the
elevation not change. You need to use plumb when the land or ground is uneven or if it is sloping,
in order to get the accurate measurement.

To determine exact measurement between two points

Tape measure
Stick (as plumb)
IV. Procedure
1. Find a field that you can perform the activity.
2. Designate points as A and B.
3. Measure 10 meters from starting point and mark it and measure it again by 10
meters until it reach the end point.
4. Calculate the mean,error, and the relative precision.

VI. Discussion
Tape must be in the same elevation in determining the measurement of the horizontal
line so that the length will be balance. In order to get the distance between two points and you
will not have difficulty, assigned people which in forward and backward person. Use pole or
stick in order to get the accuracy of the measurement.

Therefore from the computed data the most probable value is successfully achieved.
The measurement between point A-B and B-A is the same and differ only in point.
