1.

I am John Quincy Adams, former president of the united states, and I am an

expert on the spoils system. I firmly believe it is wrong and has corrupted our

government and led to major abuse of power by President Jackson and his party.

2.

a. My relationship with Andrew Jackson is that i ran against him twice and

won the first time and lost the second. I served in the House of

Representatives after losing to Jackson in the election where I served until

I died in 1848.

b. The spoils system is corrupt and has drastically ruined our government

and made it inefficient due to appointments to office were based on the

needs of the party, rather than a person's qualifications or skills to do the

job. And the system led to abuses of political power designed to benefit

and enforce the Jacksons party. Jackson’s spoils system policy was a

complete disaster and did not help the federal government in any way

besides helping Jackson’s own self interest. The system did not in any

way make the federal government more efficient or better it in fact made it

inefficient and only helped the parties interest and helped Jackson gain

more power and influence.
