Ms.

Barrett’s Classroom Technology Policy:

Students may choose to bring their electronics (i.e. laptops, phones, iPads, iPods, etc.) to
school, but they must be turned off and stored in their backpacks during the school day. There
may be times during the day that I, the teacher, allow for use of technology in the classroom,
but it is only allowed when I give clear permission to use it. Inappropriate use of technology
will result in loss of technology privileges. There are consequences for students who do not
follow the classroom rules.

Inappropriate uses of technology include:

 Personal usage of technology (i.e. texting, emailing, direct messaging, or social media).
 Use of technology (personal or school provided), to search inappropriate (meaning not suitable
or proper for in the classroom environment) or irrelevant information.
 I have a zero-tolerance policy against cyber bullying. Choosing to ignore this policy will result in
a meeting with the student, the school guidance counselor and the parent/ guardian of the
student.

Consequences for inappropriate electronic use:

 1st offense- A verbal warning
 2nd offense- Technology privileges will be taken away for the day (i.e. phone, iPod, iPad, etc.).
 3rd offense- Technology privileges will be taken away for the rest of the day and the student
must write a letter explaining to the teacher why they ignored the rules.
 4th offense- Technology privileges will be taken away for the rest of the day and parent/
guardian of the student must come pick it up from me or the front office.

*Serious offenses such as cyber bullying and or illegal use of technology, will result in a meeting with
the principle and possible loss of technology privilege for an extended period of time. Students and
Parents/ Guardians should read the student handbook as there could be additional consequences
regarding illegal behavior, including harassment.

Ms. Barrett’s Permission to take Photos and Videos:
Dear Parent/ Legal Guardian,

This permission slip form is intended to allow me to take pictures and/ or videos of the
students in the class for class projects, class scrap books, and/ or gifts to parents from the kids.
The pictures I take of the students in this class will only be used for classroom projects and to
share with the families what the students have been learning about and working on in our
classroom throughout the year.

I request that if you are a Parent or Guardian working in my classroom or helping on a

fieldtrip with my class that you be mindful of posting pictures of students who are from other
families from this class on your social media pages. I ask that you please get permission from
the Parent or Guardian before posting anything on your social media.

Please sign the information below and return the completed sheet to me, Ms. Barrett,
before school starts. If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at
mtb0401@westminstercollege.edu and I would be happy to answer them.

I look forward to meeting you and your child this fall!
