Hi,
Indians are very intellectuals that the world is witnessing day by day. In every corner of
the world, there are Indians who are leading and showing path to the followers. I just
showed my own interests to prepare this slide shows when I got to know that there is
another Obama in America that he is going to lead the world is an Indian. I am really very
very proud being an Indian and I am sure this little efforts will bring lots of inspirations,
encouragements, hopes and big dreams to all Indians to be a leader and to create history
both in India and the World. A recent study found that Indians are the most successful in
almost all fields(IT, Science, Politics, Leadership, Business, Innovation etc.) in the world.

There is two important abbreviation, i.e., NRIs means Non-Resident Indians, better you
can read it Non-Returning Indians and another term PIOs means Person of Indian
Origins. Indian, after successful in abroad, regret with his/her old desi name, does not want
to keep his/her Indian name, and very happy to change it to a foreign name, specially in
western world. Finally, I can say “Dream big to get big result”.

Piyush "Bobby" Jindal is the Governor of the U.S. state of Louisiana. A Republican, before his election as governor,
he was member of the United States House of Representatives from Louisiana's 1st congressional district, to which he
was elected in 2004 to succeed now U.S. Senator David Vitter. Jindal was re-elected to the House in the 2006 election
with 88 percent of the vote.

He was the second ever Indian American elected to Congress. On October 20, 2007, Jindal was elected governor of
Louisiana, winning a four-way race with 54.2% of the vote. At age 36, Jindal became the youngest current governor in
the United States. He also became the first non-white to serve as governor of Louisiana since P. B. S. Pinch back during
Reconstruction; one of fewer than ten people not of mainly European ancestry elected governor of a state after
Reconstruction; and the first United States governor of Indian descent.

Jindal has been mentioned as a potential candidate in the 2012 and 2016 United States presidential elections, and is
considered by many to be one of the frontrunners for the Republican nomination. On February 8, 2008, conservative
radio host Rush Limbaugh mentioned on his syndicated show that Jindal could be a possible choice for the Republican
vice presidential nomination in 2008.

Satyanand was born and raised in Auckland to an Indo-Fijian and Anglo-Indian family. His

father, Mutyala Satyanand, a medical doctor, was born in Sigatoka in 1913 and arrived in
New Zealand in 1927 to attend high school.[3] His mother Tara Tillak was a nurse
fromSuva. She married his father after moving to New Zealand.

Satyanand is the first Governor-General not to hold a knighthood before entering office
(Colonel Thomas Gore Browne, Governor of New Zealand 1855-1861, was knighted in
office). He was knighted two years later, in 2009. On assuming the role of Governor-
General he received the style The Honourable for life. Starting on New Year's Day 2009,
Satyanand issued a "New Year's Message" intended to "to bring to attention a number of
issues New Zealanders might consider as they looked to the future".

Mr. S R NATHAN

Mr Nathan began his career in the Singapore Civil Service as a medical social worker in
1955. He was appointed Seamen’s Welfare Officer the following year. In 1962, he was
seconded to the Labour Research Unit of the Labour Movement, first as Assistant Director
and later Director of the Labour Research Unit until January 1966. He continued as a
Member of its Board of Trustees until April 1988.In February 1966, he was transferred to
the Foreign Ministry. He served as Assistant Secretary and rose to beDeputy Secretary
before being appointed Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs in
January 1971. In August of the same year, Mr Nathan moved to the Ministry of Defence
where he was a Director with the rank of Permanent Secretary.

He began his 6-yearterm from 1 September 1999. On 17 August 2005, Mr Nathan was re-

Mr. Bharrat Jagdeo

Bharrat Jagdeo has been the President of Guyana since 11 August 1999. Prior to his
presidency he was Minister of Finance[1] and became resident after Janet Jagan
resigned for health reasons; he has since won two elections, in 2001 and 2006. He is the
youngest head of state of the Caricom countries. He is of Indo- Guyanese descent.
Jagdeo was born in Unity Village on the East Coast of Demerara. He joined the youth
wing of the People's Progressive Party (PPP), the Progressive Youth Organisation, when
he was 13, and became a member of the PPP itself at age 16. He subsequently rose to
local leadership positions in the party.After obtaining a Master's in Economics from
Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University in Moscow in 1990, Jagdeo returned to
Guyana and worked as an economist in the State Planning Secretariat until the PPP/Civic
election victory in the October 1992 election. After this he became Special Advisor to
the Minister of Finance.

behind Robert Kuok and Ng Teng Fong and number 119 in the world. Ananda Krishnan is

Ananda Krishnan studied at Vivekananda Tamil School in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur and
furthered his studies at Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur. Later, as a Colombo Plan scholar,
he attended University of Melbourne, Australia for his B.A. (Honours) degree majoring in
political science. During that time he boarded in the Melbourne suburb of Hawthorn.
Following that, Krishnan obtained a Masters in Business Administration at Harvard

Kalpen Suresh Modi (born April 23, 1977), best-known by his professional name Kal Penn,
is an American film and television actor who is currently serving as the Associate Director

DeWulf, an Indian American, was born in New York City, New York, and was raised in
Georgia. Her parents are from Pune, Maharashtra, India. DeWulf first came into the public

which she played Fatima, a Palestinian fast food cashier who falls in love with an Israeli
soldier. In May 2009, DeWulf starred opposite Matthew McConaughey in the New Line

Kingsley's first film role was a supporting turn in Fear Is the Key, released in 1972. Kingsley

Sir Ahmed Salman Rushdie

Sir Ahmed Salman Rushdie is aBritish Indian novelist and essayist. He first achieved fame
with his second novel, Midnight's Children (1981),which won the Booker Prize in 1981.
Much of his early fiction is set on the Indian subcontinent. His style is often classified as
magical realism mixed with historical fiction, and a dominant theme of his work is the story
of the many connections, disruptions and migrations between the Eastern and Western
world.
In 2006, Rushdie joined the Emory University faculty as Distinguished Writer in Residence
for one month a year for the next five years. Rushdie was awarded a knighthood for
services to literature in the Queen's Birthday Honours on 16 June 2007.

Mehta embarked on her film career as a screenwriter for children's films. In 1991 she
made her feature-film directorial debut with Sam & Me (starring Om Puri), a story of the

neighbourhood of Parkdale. It won First Honorable Mention in the Camera d'Or category of
the 1991 Cannes Film Festival. Mehta followed up with Camilla starring Bridget Fonda and
Jessica Tandy in 1994. In 2002, she directed Bollywood/Hollywood, for which she won the
Genie Award for Best Original Screenplay. Mehta is currently preparing a film entitled
Exclusion, which stars Akshay Kumar and John Abraham. The plot is based on the Komagata
Maru incident that occurred in Canada. Mehta directed two episodes of George Lucas'

Eagles teammate Quinten Lynch, Daniel Kerr also attended Aquinas College, Perth.[4] Kerr

Bhatia was born to a Punjabi Hindu family in Chandigarh, India. His father, Baldev Bhatia,
was as an officer in the Indian Army who later joined the Indian Ministry of Defence, while
his mother, Daman Bhatia, was a senior official at the Central Bank of India. Bhatia was
schooled at the St. Joseph's Boys' High School in Bangalore. In 1985, he began his
undergraduate education at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science(BITS) in Pilani
and was transferred to Caltech after two years at BITS. After graduating from Caltech,
Sabeer went to Stanford University in 1989 to pursue his M.S. in Electrical Engineering. At
Stanford, he worked on Ultra Low Power VLSI Design. At Stanford, he got inspired by
entrepreneurs such as Steve Jobs and Scott McNealy and eventually decided to become
one himself. Instead of pursuing a Ph.D. after his Masters, he decided to join Apple in

Vivek Kundra is the first and current Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the United

for the District and, before that, as Virginia's Assistant Secretary of Commerce and

Dr. Vikram Pandit

After education from Columbia, Vikram Pandit was a professor at Indiana University Bloomington before joining
Morgan Stanley. As head of Morgan Stanley's institutional securities division from 1994 to 2000, he pushed the
company further into electronic trading and helped to build prime brokerage services that catered to hedge funds.
He led the institutional securities from 2000 to 2005. The Indian government awarded him the Padma Bhushan in
2008. He was the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Institutional Securities and Investment Banking
Group at Morgan Stanley, where he was responsible for the overall management of the group and focused on the
trading, sales, and infrastructure aspects of the business (2000–2005). Prior to that position, Pandit served as the
managing director and head of the Worldwide Institutional Equities Division (1994–2000), and as the managing
director and head of the US Equity Syndicate (1990–1994) for Morgan Stanley. In 2005, Pandit was fired from
Morgan Stanley and started a hedge fund with other Morgan Stanley refugees named Old Lane Partners. Citigroup
subsequently purchased the poorly performing fund in 2007 for $800 million. Pandit received approximately $165.2
million for this transaction. Many analysts believe that this hefty price was paid for a hedge fund with only $4.5
billion under management to get Pandit onto Citigroup. He received an additional $2.7 million in the roughly six
months he served as head of Citigroup's investment bank and alternative investments group. In January 2008,
Pandit was given a sign-on grant of stock and performance-based options worth more than $48 million, though the
options currently have no cash value. Pandit serves on the boards of Columbia University, Columbia Business

Ramamurthy has appeared in theatrical productions of A Servant of Two Masters in

enjoys playing football. Ramamurthy made a conscious decision to not audition for
stereotypical Indian roles, although he has been offered such parts. Ramamurthy's current

originally written for a 55-year old, his audition tape and screen test were convincing
enough for writers to rewrite the part for Ramamurthy.

He is best known for the role he plays as Indian geneticist Mohinder Suresh in the NBC

Khorana was born in Raipur, Kabirwala,Khanewal, a village in British India (now Pakistan).
His father was the village "patwari", or taxation official. He was homeschooled by his
father, and he later attended D.A.V. Multan High School. He finished his B.Sc. from Punjab
University, Lahore in 1943 and M.Sc from Punjab University in 1945. In 1945, he began
studies at the University of Liverpool. After earning a PhD in 1948, he continued his
postdoctoral studies in Zurich (1948-49). Subsequently, he spent two years at Cambridge
and his interests in proteins and nucleic acids took root at that time. In 1952 he went to
the University of British Columbia, Vancouver and in 1960 moved to the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. In 1970 Khorana became the Alfred Sloan Professor of Biology and
Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he worked until retiring in
2007. He is a member of the Board of Scientific Governors at The Scripps Research
Institute, and currently holds Professor Emeritus status at MIT.

Chawla joined the NASA astronaut corps in March 1995 and was selected for her first flight
in 1998. Her first space mission began onNovember 19, 1997 as part of the six astronaut
crew that flew the Space Shuttle Columbia flight STS-87. Chawla was the first Indian-born
woman and the second person of Indian origin to fly in space, following cosmonaut Rakesh
Sharma who flew in 1984 in a Soviet spacecraft. On her first mission Chawla travelled over
10.4 million miles in 252 orbits of the earth, logging more than 360 hours in space. During
STS-87, she was responsible for deploying the Spartan Satellite which malfunctioned,
necessitating a spacewalk by Winston Scott and Takao Doi to capture the satellite. A five-
month NASA investigation fully exonerated Chawla by identifying errors in software
interfaces and the defined procedures of flight crew and ground control. On January 16,
2003, Chawla finally returned to spaceaboard Columbia on the ill-fated STS-107 mission.

Sunita Williams (born September 19, 1965) is a United States Naval officer and a NASA

A South African Tamil, she was the first non-white woman on the High Court of South Africa, and she
has also served as a judge of the International Criminal Court and President of the International
Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. Her four-year term as High Commissioner for Human Rights began on 1
September 2008. Her tenure on the High Court was short, however, as she was soon elected by the
United Nations General Assembly to serve as a judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for
Rwanda (ICTR). She served for eight years, including four years as president. She was the only female
judge for the first four years of the tribunal.Her tenure on the ICTR is best remembered for her role in
the landmark trial of Jean Paul Akayesu, which established that rape and sexual assault could
constitute acts of genocide. Pillay said in an interview, "From time immemorial, rape has been
regarded as spoils of war. Now it will be considered a war crime. We want to send out a strong signal
that rape is no longer a trophy of war." In February 2003, she was elected to the first ever panel of
judges of the International Criminal Court and assigned to the Appeals Division. She was elected to a

Dr. Shashi Tharoor

Dr. Shashi Tharoor is the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs and a member of the
Indian Parliament from the Trivandrum constituency in Kerala. He served as the UN

and February 2007, during the term of Secretary-General Kofi Annan at the United
Nations. In 2006, he was the official candidate of India for the office of United Nations
