Waiter : The waiter perceives Michael as a ladies' man, because despite of being out on a dinner

date with a lady he was observing another lady with blonde hair. Michael then calls the waiter to
enquire about the lady and then approaches her. This surprises the waiter and he is also curious
about the conversation between the blonde lady and Michael. Without even listening to the entire
conversation the waiter form a snap judgment about Michael and tags him as a ladies' man and a
smooth operator . At the end of this seen the waiter says he knows how to get around himself and in
this way he is projecting his personality as Michaels

Mrs Gerard: She perceives Michael as a moody and difficult person. the next morning Michael is in a
hurry to leave for his studio and he is preoccupied with the thought of finally painting his Madonna.
Mrs. Gerard on the other hand is preoccupied with her thoughts and is unable to see her sons
happiness and eagerness to leave for the studio and instead tags him as moody and difficult,
unpredictable and ill tempered

Maid :The maids is frightened by Michaels. She wonders what goes on in his mind to produce such
frightening paints. she also assumed that something terrible is going to happen because of the way
he looks at her while climbing up the stairs.

Michael :In the first half of the movie he is seen from 5 different perspective by 5 different people.
they describe him as moody, different, ill tempered, unpredictable, ladies man, smooth operator
with ladies, gangster, insane, lunatic, murderer .

the second half of the movie portrays what had actually happened. we get to see situations from his
perceptive and we observe that he is a different man than what he has been portrayed. he is also
preoccupied with the thoughts of painting a portrait of her.

cabbie :the cab driver perceives Michael as a hood while he himself is carrying a gun with him he is
projecting his own characteristics to Michael and describing him as a gangster he also has a biased
perspective which is displayed when he says all politician are crooked.

Land lord: he sees Michael as a lunatic and he thinks he know lunatics because of his past experience
with them

Madonna : She assume that Michael is romantically interested in her and fails to understand
Michaels intentions and dreams
Individual learning :

The film "Eye of the beholder" shows us how different people perceive people and situations
differently.

According to what i have understood there are various factors that affect the way we perceive
people and situations.

Perception can be changed once someone makes an effort to get to know the person or understand
the situation.

My contribution :

We as a group first discussed the movie and the divided the work. I worked on the detailed analysis
of important characters in the film with reference to the concept explained in class.
