APPENDIX 3C

VIEWING PARAMETERS, CHANGING PARAMETERS

& SYSTEM REBOOT

Viewing Parameters

Parameters may be viewed without entering the actual program whereby changes may b made to the values. The unit can be
caused to display the value of the parameters that define its operating characteristics by pressing the PARAMETER
pushbutton when the unit is in the IDLE STATE.

The unit will then display on the top line display the name of the Parameter, and on the bottom line the parameter number and
the numeric value of the parameter.

Note Engage CALIBRATION pushbutton (pushbutton 2) to INCREMENT Parameters (101-102-103 …)

Engage PARAMETER pushbutton (pushbutton 1) to DECREMENT Parameters (103-102-101 …)

Holding depressed continuously the PARAMETER or the CALIBRATION pushbuttons will cause the parameter
number to decrease or increase at a rate of about two parameters per second

If no pushbutton is pressed for a period of 15 seconds, the unit will exit the parameter Display/Change State and
return to the IDLE STATE. This time period can be increased or decreased via Parameter 430.

Changing Parameters

If the rightmost pushbutton “^” (pushbutton 4) is engaged immediately prior to the PARAMETER pushbutton (pushbutton 1)
being engaged (engage almost at the same time – button 4 then button 1 very quickly), the unit will allow the user to ENTER
the program. Values may not be modified without entering the program. When the right most digit is flashing, you have
entered the PROGRAM mode and changes to each parameter can be made.

Note Entering the program to a level whereby program Parameters may be modified is indicated by a “blinking”
rightmost digit of the viewed parameter’s value

If the rightmost digit is NOT “blinking”, then the user is NOT in the program

Program ENTERED for modification of values

ADT A CAL FACTOR
PAR 121 = 10000

Example: Modify Parameter from PAR 121 = 10000 to a new value PAR = 10010

Pressing the ∆ (far right pushbutton) will cause the rightmost digit to be incremented up to a value of 9 and then back to zero.
ADT A CAL FACTOR
PAR 121 = 10001

Pressing the “<” pushbutton will cause the numeric value of the parameter to be shifted left one position and a zero to be
entered in the right most position. Continue to modify and shift parameters until value desired is achieved.
ADT A CAL FACTOR
PAR 121 = 00010

Continue pressing the pushbuttons until the desired value is attained

ADT A CAL FACTOR
PAR 121 = 10010

Once the correct value is attained for the Parameter selected, the user may allow the unit to time-out (15 seconds) to
exit the Parameter Program, or move to next Parameter viewing.

Important Notes

Pressing the “<” pushbutton continuously will ZERO out all digits
ADT A CAL FACTOR
PAR 121 = 00000

Always CHANGE VALUES utilizing the ∆ (far right pushbutton) and SHIFT VALUES utilizing the “<” pushbutton

Digits shifted out from the left of the numeric field are lost

Pressing either the PARAMETER (decrement) pushbutton or the CALIBRATE (increment) pushbutton will cause the value
shown on the display to be stored as the new value for the parameter last changed

If the unit times out and return to the Idle State, the last value shown on the display will be stored as the new value of the
parameter

All parameters are kept within the unit in battery backed up memory as 16 bit numbers. This restricts the numeric value of
a parameter to be from 0 to 65000. Ensure only valid numbers are entered.

Parameters may ONLY be viewed and modified when there is NO EXTERNAL ARM INPUT SIGNAL

The unit will exit the STATS/PARAMETER State if there is no activity for 15 seconds or value of Parameter 430 on any of
the PARAMETER, CALIBRATE, SHIFT or INCREMENT pushbutton switches

System Reboot

The MicroPAC maintains a basic set of default parameters in the operating code. These default parameters exist regardless
of modifications to program Parameters. The user MUST enter unique program parameters for each field location prior to use.
Chapter 5 and Appendix 5 of this manual detail all of the system parameters applicable to the unit.

Once parameters are entered into the unit, these parameters are maintained in a non-volatile memory until they are modified.
MicroPAC Reboot Procedure

CAUTION! MicroPAC Reboot resets all Parameter values to the original factory default values. User should
note all values such as totals prior to a system re-boot.

With POWER-OFF
Step 1
1. Engage all four (4) pushbuttons - THEN … POWER - ON

2. Hold all four pushbuttons engaged until the DISPLAY SCREEN IS POWERED-UP AND VIEWED (5-7 seconds)
3. Disengage all four pushbuttons – THEN … Position POWER-OFF

Step 2
1. Engage PARAMETER pushbutton only (far left button) – THEN … POWER-ON (while button engaged)

2. Hold PARAMETER pushbutton engaged until the DISPLAY IS POWERED-UP AND VIEWED (5-7 seconds)
3. Disengage the PARAMETER pushbutton

Note On successful reboot, the unit will reset the MicroPAC parameters to the default set of values, as burned into the
microchip. These default values can serve as a starting point in setting up the parameters in a new installation, or
may be used when the parameter data has become corrupted.

Default Values should be listed in Appendix 5. User should always maintain a copy of Appendix 5 showing the
ACTUAL VALUES, as entered.

In the event values become corrupted (i.e. PARA 101 = $X9564$#8), re-boot the system as outline above.

A successful system reboot may be best determined by ensuring that a previously modified value has been reset
to its original factor default setting
