 “Essence of Education

‘Knowledge is Power’ is very famous and effective proverb. Knowledge makes a person

powerful and empowers to win over any condition. Students generally get this topic in their

school during exam time or any essay writing competition to write something in their own words

to express views and ideas on this proverb.

My mother since then told me that I have to study well in order to end or at least

minimize our family’s conflict in terms of financial status. More to this, she added a statement

saying “knowledge is the only thing that cannot be taken away from you” after what she said, I

realized that she is really right with what she have said.

When we are said to be an educated one, meaning we are knowledgeable enough in terms

of handling ourselves independently. We will know what is right from wrong, and the difference

of good from evil. We can be able to see the bright side and avoid going to the wrong way. We

can live our life the best that we can, as much as we are alive.

One having more knowledge will be able to control circumstances in life accordingly.

The first thing that strikes me about education is knowledge gain. Education gives us knowledge

of the world around us and changes it into something better. It develops in us a perspective of

looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. We can make

everything that matters become good and that we can change what is not right. We can improve

the status of our life and we can help others grow and become a productive citizen.

Without knowledge, we are ignorant. Looking back at the time where our Filipino

ancestors doesn’t know how to fight for their right because they even doesn’t know that they

have something to defend for. Staying ignorant is a shameful doing. We have to continue

learning while we are still breathing because the quality of life is constant when it comes to
changes. In short, one of the goodness of education to human existence is that it gives justice to

us in everything that we should know about in this world.

Education is becoming one of the most important factors to a person’s success in today’s

society. Whether a person is living in poverty or among the wealthiest in the world, education is

necessary to advance in any situation. So, as a 21st century learner I am obliged to study well and

try to do the best that I can be to uplift my family’s situation. Yes, it is challenging because I

have to work hard in order to maintain today’s educational standard. But what’s beneficial today

is the presence of technology that lets people live life and schooling faster and easier.

If those living in poverty can get an education, they can pull themselves out of those

living conditions. They can find a job and earn an income, which is a key part to ending poverty.

They can become self-sufficient and independent from outside aid. An education is an invaluable

tool for anyone living in poverty today.

Another thing is that in order for a country to see steady economic growth, education

must be a priority. Just like what Jose Rizal said, “Children are the hope of our country”.
