The

Crucifixion
of
JESUS
Luke 23: 35-43
KFC Monthly Assembly
November- Cycle C
Have you seen
a crucifix?
It is an image of the cross
where Jesus was nailed.
Where can you
see a crucifix?
Nowadays you can see it hanging above
the altar at Church or in our homes.
Some people even wear them as
necklaces.
The cross reminds us that about 2,000
years ago, Jesus suffered and died
“on the cross” for our sins.
Let us go back to that sad day
when most of the people just
stood at the foot of the cross
and made fun of Jesus.
Soldiers made Then they nailed it
fun of Jesus by on the cross
above Jesus’
writing on a
head.
piece of wood
the words, “This
is the King of
the Jews”.
Did you know that on that day, there
were two other crosses that stood on
both sides of the cross of Jesus?
The two crosses were for the two thieves. One
of them shouted at Jesus and offended him by
challenging Jesus to save the three of them
since he was claiming to be the Savior.
The other thief, however, stopped him and told
him to fear and respect God since, unlike them
who were both guilty, Jesus was innocent. They
deserved their punishment but Jesus did not.
Then he asked Jesus to forgive him and to
remember him when he goes to heaven. Jesus
saw the thief’s sincere sorry and told him that
he will be with him in paradise.
Our Gospel today teaches us the
basic of our faith: that Jesus loves
us and through His death on the
cross, He has set us free.
Jesus indeed is our King and Savior.

St. Elizabeth was a princess in
Hungary. She was a prayerful
woman and showed love for the
poor since her childhood.
She married the German

to obey the tradition during
their time.
Even if she was a queen, she

works.
She gave honor to God when one
day she offered and laid her
crown before the crucifix. She
said that she could not bear to
wear a crown while Jesus, her
King, wears a thorn.
She also visited the homes of the
poor and personally gave them
bread and clothes.
When her husband died, she
entered the convent where she
offered and gave away her
wealth in order to build
monasteries and hospitals. She
spent the remaining years of
her life caring for the poor and
the sick in the hospital.
She is the patron saint of
bakers, Catholic charities and
Secular Franciscan Order.
