Associated Learning Standard(s): The resource may be generally applicable, if so, simply state that. List any ISTE-S standards that
seem to naturally align with the selected resource.

ISTE-S 7b: Students use collaborative technologies to work with others, including peers, experts, or community members, to
examine issues and problems from multiple viewpoints.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

Stormboard is a digital whiteboard that allows students to add notes to an overall discussion/topic. There are numerous
templates to choose from, ranging from basic note sheets (the one I used) to calendars and essay planners. As such, you are able
to use this website for a number of various reasons, such as posting a discussion question for students to answer or using it as an
online location for groups to come up with ideas.

INTEGRATION IDEA - COLLABORATION

How might you integrate this resource in a lesson plan to promote collaboration among students in your classroom, or among
students and others outside of the classroom?

The main purpose of this website is to be able to connect different users together under one easel. Within the classroom,
students can answer discussion questions presented by the teacher and respond to each other’s comments. Outside of the
classroom, students would be able to use Stormboard as a way to bounce ideas off of each other for group projects while in the
comfort of their own privacy. There is no need to all be online at the same time, as everyone can see the notes you posted when
they go to the website. There are many avenues in which this website can be used to inspire collaboration among students, it all
depends on the instructor’s teaching style and the lesson taking place at that moment.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
• Based on the “value-added rating scale” above, how would you rate the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource?
• Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.

I would go ahead and give Stormboard a rating of 2. The biggest obstacle in the way of it receiving a 3 is that it doesn’t transform
a lesson or make it difficult to continue without it. While Stormboard is a really nifty website that saves a lot of headaches by
making student collaboration simple, it is not the only website that can do that. If students really wanted to, they could simply
skip technology altogether and find a place to meet up and work on their project in person. Aside from that, it does align to
content standards and would be used by students directly.
