Welcome to the Alpha Course - an opportunity to explore the meaning of life
Over 2.8 million people in the UK and 18 million worldwide, from
every walk of life, have already been on an Alpha Course.
This manual outlines the content of the 15 talks, which each look at a different
aspect of the Christian faith. After each talk, there is a time for discussion in small
groups – a place where you can ask questions, delve into different issues, find out
THAN
what others think and perhaps make some new friends along the way!

SESSION 11 WHY AND HOW SHOULD I TELL OTHERS?
Appendix
Lord Jesus Christ,
Preparing your testimony I am sorry for the things I have
done wrong in my life.
Suggestions:
(Take a few moments to ask his
• Make it short, aim for three minutes forgiveness for anything particular
– people switch off after that that is on your conscience.)
• Make it personal – don’t preach
– use ‘I’ or ‘we’ – not ‘you’ Please forgive me. I now turn from
everything which I know is wrong.
• Keep Christ central – they need
to follow him, not you! Thank you that you died on the cross
• Format for me so that I could be forgiven and
– a little of your former life set free.
– how you came into your
relationship with Christ Thank you that you now offer me this
– something of what it has gift of forgiveness and your Spirit.
meant since then I now receive that gift.
• Write it out in full – it’s easier to see
the waffle when it’s down on paper! Please come into my life by your
Holy Spirit to be with me forever.

WHAT ABOUT THE CHURCH? SESSION 13
‘The church
is an historic
reality…
