FOREWORD
With BCA’s Green Mark Award and protecting the environment as one
of the top priorities, KV2 was “Green” right from concept. Vertical
landscaping and screening against solar heat gain and noise, Naturally
lighted and ventilated spaces, Water efficient fittings, Energy efficient
mechanical systems and Use of sustainable materials made KV2 one of
the greenest building in Singapore.

Achieving Green Mark Award signifies that the design team has made
sure that this residential building is wholly-designed with the
environment in mind. Electricity and water consumption is greatly
reduced. Other factors such as indoor environmental air quality and
conscientious design are also taken into consideration to ensure that
the overall design of the building promotes green and healthy living
habitat.

This guide provides details on the green features which have been
installed in this building and how they help to reduce the burden on
the environment. Also, we want you to live green and hence, some tips
have been included which you can adopt in your everyday lives to save
the environment.

We hope that this guide will be useful in encouraging the spirit of

environmental awareness and quality living.

Yours Sincerely,

Kent Vale Management

KV2: WATER & ENERGY EFFICIENT

Water Efficient fittings are installed in all residential units with water
consumptions regulary monitored. Any unusual spike in water
consumption is investigated to ensure there are no water leakage
or/and illegal water tapping activities. The Water Savings Policy and
Management Plan ensure water savings strategies will be implemented
to meet the annual water savings target.

All common areas are installed with energy savings T5 and LED lighting
fixtures. These lighting fixtures enable high luminous efficiency.
High-frequency operation reduces lamp flicker and minimize adverse
effects, such as eyestrain and headache. Photo cell sensors are also
installed along the lift lobbies to minimize energy wastage.

SEGREGATED RECYCLING
OHS introduced a Segregated Recycle
Bin system in KV in collaboration with
Office of Facility Management in
March 2015. Recycling Bins (Paper,
Cans, Plastics and Glass) are placed at
the lobby of each block at KV2 and the
existing recycling chute within KV2
(each floor) is dedicated for plastic
recycling.

BICYLE BAYS VERANDAH

In 2016, each block at KV2 will see an
additional bicycle bay with 20 stands Gate LIFT LIFT Gate

to promote cycling to work instead of

driving to work. This new sustainable NEW BICYCLE BAY
WITH 20 STANDS
feature will be located at the area
beside the lift lobbies of Blk G,H and I.

COMMUNITY GARDEN
To continue promoting Sustainability
and Green practices, OHS supported
the residents’ interest and allocated a
space at Kent Vale 2 for a Community
Garden. With the help of NParks and a
small group of keen garderners,
“The Lemonade Garden” was
launched.

ECO WARRIORS CHALLENGE
OHS marketing team conceptualized
and planned a Go Green campaign
called ‘Eco Warriors’ to promote
sustainability amongst the children
with 5 sustainable themes of NUS:
Mobility, Recycle, Energy, Water and
Spaces. Each child was given an Eco
Trail Map and each child must
complete all 5 stations to earn the title
“Eco Warrior”. The event saw more
than 40 children participate.

E-WASTE, WE RECYCLE
An E-Waste recycling initiative was
held in 2014 in collaboration with
Office of Environmental Sustainability.
OHS Management also took this
opportunity to recycle their electrical
and electronic assets that were meant
to be disposed. Kent Vale contributed
to a few tonnes of E-Waste.

PLANT TERRARIUM
30 families from Kent Vale had the
opportunity to bring back a self
sustaining plant and make new friends
while having fun. The event, hosted by
Office of Housing Services, was held to
promote green practices and commu-
nal bonding for the residents of Kent
Vale.
