CFBC COLD START UP PROCEDURE

1. Take start up drum level @ -100mm.

1. Start ID Fan by keeping IGV closed.
2. Adjust furnace draught @-40mmwc by opening ID Fan IGV.
3. Start SA Fan by keeping IGV closed.
4. Adjust SA Fan airflow @ 5 to 6 kg/sec.& maintain furnace draught
@ -40mmwc.
5. Start any one Roots blower with minimum speed. (30 to 35 % speed
reference.)
6. Start PA fan by keeping IGV closed.
7. Increased PA flow up to 17kg/sec.gradually by opening IGV of PA
Fan. Adjust furnace draught @ -40mmwc while increasing PA flow.
8. Increase SA flow @ 12 kg/sec.
9. Increase Roots blower speed up to 55% & normalise disch.
Pressure. (1800mmwc).
10. Start sand feeding through sand feeder & increase bedht.gradually
up to1100mm.
11. Start one HGG with minimum oil firing (250-350 kg/hr.) after
raising bed ht. up to700mm.Another HGG should be started only
after stable operation of 1st HGG is ensured.
Note: Pre condition of HGG start are as under.
a) LDO pressure should be greater than 6kg/cm2.
b) Compressed air for atomisation should be greaterthan
7 Kg/cm2.
c) Differential pressure across the HGG > 25mmWC.
d) Total Primary air flow > 14 kg/sec.
12. Increase oil firing in HGG gradually up to 800kg/hr. by observing
O/L gas temp. <850Oc.
13. Raise the bed temp. at the rate of 100OC/HR.
14. Charge Imported coal when bed temp. is @ 600 Oc by starting
anyone coal feeder at minimum speed.(8% to10% reference of coal
feeder)
15. Close all steam side vents when drum pressure increases2 to3
kg/cm2.
16. Close all steam side drains when drum pressure reaches more than
5 kg/cm2.
17. Raise the bed temperature gradually (120Oc/hr)up to 850Oc.
18. At 15 kg/cm2drumpressure close all SH vent v/vs & operate startup
ventv/v such that increase of drum pressure can be kept within
permissible gradient of 2kg/cm2(g) per min. Overheating of
superheater must be avoided.
19. HGG oil firing cut down gradually with raise of bed temp. &
Stopped when bed temp. raise up to 850Oc.Also stop LDO pump.
20.Open HGG By Pass Air dampers. Close combustion dampers &
dilution dampers after HGG O/L gas temp. < 200oc.
21. Raise the steam pressure (2kg/min.), steam temp. gradually up to
60kg/cm2(g) & 500Oc.by increasing coal feeding & airflow. Control
steam pre. & steam temp. by operating start up vent v/v.
22.Start another coal feeder with minimum speed if required.
23.Charge ESP when Flue gas temp. at Air Preheater Outlet reaches
up to 120Oc.
24.Start ESP Ash recirculation feeder & ESP 1 st field denseveyor
towards intermediate ash silo when bed temp.>850 Oc.to control bed
temp. Also modulate PA flow & SA flows to control bed temp,
steam pressure & steam temp.
25.Take Air Heater in line when Air Heater O/L gas temp. reaches up
to 1300c to minimize Air Heater cold end corrosion.
26.Open bypass of main steam stop v/v at pre.58Kg/cm2. & allow line
heating for at least 10mins. Maintain Boiler pressure 2 to 3 kg/cm2
less than running boiler (AFBC) by modulating start up vent v/v.
Also check that steam temp. difference of both boilers is less then
30Oc at the time of parallelling CFBC. ( not less than470 Oc). Then
open MSSV fully.

Note: Ensure following points before connecting incoming Boiler

(CFBC) with AFBC.
1. TG tripping interlock must be in line for steam temp. Very
low .
2. Incoming Boiler is healthy in respect of Control &
instrumentation.
3. Incoming Boiler pressure less than 2 to 3 kg/cm 2.of running
Boiler.
4. Steam temperature difference of incoming Boiler and running
Boiler is less then 30OC.

27. Start HP dosing in boiler to increase PH of Boiler drum water.
