VINTA HERMOSA: A TASTE OF ZAMBOANGA. FRESH OF THE BOAT!

 What kind of food svc facility is the chosen space? Define the type of facility.

Vinta Hermosa is a Specialty Filipino Seafood Restaurant, according to Piotrowski, C. M.


(2016) in her book about “Designing Commercial Interiors”, Specialty Restaurant can be
recognized by specializing or the main type of food served such as pizza, chicken, and seafood.
Vinta Hermosa was specializing with the taste of Zamboanga City in Mindanao, according to
Agbayani, B. (2016) Zamboanga in known for their fresh seafood dishes such as Seafood
Paella.

 What are the basic characteristics of that type of food svc?

Vinta Hermosa was categories as a type of Theme or Style of service under the Specialty
Restaurant. Some characteristics of this type of food service, according to Piotrowski, C. M.
(2016) it has a high-end pricing that provides a service and menu selection assisted by a crew
or waiter or waitress. And commonly tables are already set-up providing a complete utensils
or table setting.

 What are the basic space parts of that type of food svc?

The basic space part of Specialty Restaurant according to the book entitled “Designing
Commercial Interiors” must have a Cashier Counter, Intimate and Leisure Dining Area, and of
course a Kitchen. Computers were commonly used for this type of restaurant this allows for
exacting inventory controls.

 Critique the chosen contender. How is it successfully designed as that type of food svc?

Vinta Hermosa was very different from the other two (2) contenders, it has a different aura
and conceptualization. The design concept was very clear and can easily be seen in the interior,
from choice of materials, color scheme, and overall design can be easily recognized that it is a
Specialty Filipino Seafood Restaurant. The Design concept is about Vinta that is originated in
Zamboanga City of Mindanao, Vinta is a traditional boat used for inter-island transport of
people and specially freshly caught fish. The wall concept of Vinta from its form, symbolism,
function, and origins the designer was successfully distributed the idea to create the Interiors
itself. Elements are commonly triangle which is also a form and design of the Vinta boat, color
scheme are composed of land, water, and sky that is equivalent to brown and different shade
of blue. The Counter, kitchen and mini bar area was the main point of the design in which she
successfully arranges the different elements of the concept and making it as if it is the main
Vinta boat carrying the taste of Zamboanga.

This was classified as a Theme or Style of Service type of Specialty Restaurant. I can
tell that Vinta Hermosa is a compete success not only on the Interior but also for the experience
that the design comprises and as a type of Specialty Restaurant. At the first glance you can
easily tell what the restaurant is selling and it’s a good point as a type of food service facility,
which sells a Filipino Seafood dishes. The concept was distributed in a very well manner that
every element that is put in the design were very related to its concept.
