Manish Malhotra was born in the year 1965, he use to love fashion even when he was
very young. He used to experiment his dressing styles and ideas on his mother by
advising her to dress up to his choice. His father wanted him to join the family business
after completion of the studies. But Manish took up small-modeling assignments while
studying at Elphinstone College in Mumbai. Later on he started his career as a
professional model. After some time he joined Equinox, a small fashion store in Bandra
locality and there he learnt all aspects of design, display, sales, customer services and
workshop liaison. He took care of every aspect right from attending the client, shopping
for fabric and dressing the model.

Manish Malhotra is considered among the leading designers of the present fashion
World. At the age of 25, Manish started his career in Bollywood in the year 1990 when
he got the opportunity to design the dresses for Juhi Chawla in the film Swarg, but he got
the real fame when he designed the costumes for Urmila Matondkar for the film
Rangeela, that catapulted him to real stardom, and after that he never looked back. Today
his designer outfits are in demand like anything else.

After his successful stint in the Bollywood, Manish ventured into the mainstream
designing arena in the year 1998 with his high-profile couture store Reverie. Manish has
established his own designing studio Sheetal. The store received a tremendous response
and his clientele featured many great socialites.

Manish Malhotra’s first fashion show took place in November 1999 and he did not
disappoint the audience and 70 percent of the clothes were sold out within three weeks
from the show. Malhotra created a revolution by having Urmila Matondkar model the
show, this act was later on followed by several designers for their shows. His collection
had the embroidered denim wear that became a rage instantly. International model,
Naomi Campbell too was fascinated and decided to pick a pair on her visit to the city. In
the year 2005, Manish began a talk show named The Manish Malhotra Show.
