Instructional Strategies and Procedures 1. As students enter the library, direct them to the
back right classroom area.
2. Once students are situated, introduce yourself as
the library student teacher.
a. Tell them to get out their Chromebooks
but keep them closed while I give them
instructions.
3. Walk students through the process of how to
access Adobe Spark by going to
spark.adobe.com.
a. They will login with their Google
account and then click on the blue plus
button to create a story.
i. Select videos option on the top
of the page and then choose from
a template or start from scratch.
ii. They should put their
entrepreneur in the idea line and
select the show and tell
presentation option.
iii. Students have the option to
change the theme or music.
iv. Keep in mind that the recording
feature only allows 10 to 15
seconds per slide so know the
important information that
should be stated.
1. If students want to delete
their recording, they can
click on the clock that
shows the second in the
bottom right hand corner
to remove the narration.
This option will only
delete the narration. The
image will stay on the
slide.
4. Ask students if they have any questions about
Adobe Spark. Tell them they will have an
opportunity to play around with the website to
familiarize themselves.
5. Hand out the graphic organizer and explanation
of the project next.
a. Explain that they are writing a
narrative/biography visual story of the
entrepreneur they chose.
b. For the visual story they should include
the following information:
i. Their upbringing, schooling, 3
major accomplishments,
background, how they got onto
the Forbes list, and any charities
or groups they are a part of
(social responsibility).
1. They need pictures to
represent the text and
different components of
the story they are sharing.
2. They should use a
minimal amount of words
on the slides. But they
should write a script first
so they know what they
are going to say while
recording.
ii. There should be only seven
slides or three minutes long.
c. Students need to make sure to give
credit for images they find on Google. If
they search for them on Adobe Spark,
the images are free because they align
with Creative Commons so those do not
need to be cited.
6. Tell students they should use the graphic
organizer to complete their research before they
start compiling their story.
7. Ask students if they have any questions.
8. Tell them you have a list of websites, databases,
and books they can use for their research. The
rest of the period will be used for research, and
I will be around if anyone needs assistance.
9. Dismiss students when the bell rings, and
remind them to push in their chairs.
Assessment Students will complete a three minute visual story that
describes the life, accomplishments, and social
responsibilities of the selected entrepreneur.

● Search in the databases first! (Through Clever)

○ Gale Power Search and Proquest are good places to start
○ Make sure it is on full text and select academic journals or magazines
○ If you don’t get any results, then search in Google
● What to remember when Googling
○ Look for credible sources
■ Is it .org, .edu, etc.
■ If it is .com, is there an author listed on the top of the article? Is there a
date when it was published? Is the website reputable? Do a lot of people
know about it and use it for information?
● What are some keywords to search?
○ Type in the entrepreneur's name and then another keyword such as upbringing,
education, accomplishments, charities, etc.
● Example articles:
○ Mark Zuckerberg -- Facebook CEO
