The Core at Corby Cube

The Core at Corby Cube, a brand new arts venue and part of the iconic new building in the centre of the town, is delighted
to announce that it kicks off its sensational first season with a fun-filled Christmas show for all ages.

Proud to be a brand new centre for live entertainment serving Corby and the surrounding areas, the Core will welcome top
class comedy, drama, dance and music, plus a host of exceptional family and children‟s shows. Along with these live
performances, there will be lots of creative activities to get involved with too, with workshops for individuals, schools and
community groups, residencies, artist development opportunities and exciting ways to interact online via the venue‟s
website.

A free Open Weekend in November will give everyone a taste of what‟s happening at the Core (keep an eye on local press
for details), followed by a witty and wickedly entertaining re-telling of the magical story, Hansel and Gretel. From Friday 3
to Sunday 26 December, audiences will be bowled over by this fast-paced fairytale, directed by Gary Sefton (Royal
Shakespeare Company). The cast of hilarious characters includes a gang of Glaswegian bats, a corkscrew that sings, a
Humbug in love, and a sassy young girl who might just save the day! Tickets are priced from just £7 to £13, and are
available now.

The Core at Corby Cube wants to thank the large number of the Corby community that participated in the three-month
long research project that has resulted in the venue‟s name. Creative Director for the Core at Corby Cube, Chris Sudworth
said “There have been so many people willing to share their ideas with us. We‟re excited to have chosen a name suggested
by a member of the community that reflects our ambition to be right at the heart of what‟s happening in Corby. The people
of Corby are incredibly creative and we‟re looking forward to working together to make the Core a place where everyone
feels welcome and everyone can get involved.”

Tickets for Hansel and Gretel are available from the Core’s Ticket Line: 01536 470470. A brand new website dedicated to
the Core at Corby Cube launches in November 2010, but in the meantime, tickets can be booked online at
www.royalandderngate.co.uk.

Get Involved
Team Building, Smart Mobs and our local Community – WRITERS, ARTISTS & the PERFORMING ARTS.
We are evaluating the idea of re-engineering a “new media” platform – theCafé - and to equip it with a full back office suite
and a Help Desk all designed to serve, especially, our creative folk - artists, writers, and performers. An additional facility
will allow individuals and groups to create and manage their own editions, essentially to create private networks that
function within the whole. At the same time, using the back office and new media tool box, we shall also be placing the
talents of our creative community at the heart of efforts to help maintain and regenerate our wider communities in these
times of austerity. Ours will be a Not For Profit approach but will also, in these times when “there is no money”, be scalable
and self sustaining. Right now we are looking for something more valuable than money; your experience, enthusiasm and
time. We are looking for a few like minded folk who are prepared to risk a few hours having fun and working with others to
help create something worthwhile.

We shall help the creative folk amongst us – and those that so aspire, to get their work ready for going public and help put it
on display; to meet the high standards we intend to apply and maintain we need the help of more folk having an interest in:

writing and a love of the language; from budding Citizen Journalists to publishing and e-books
fine art, its techniques, methods, context and history
the performing arts and those who understand what it takes to develop talent and help get it on show
the routes and mechanisms by which the products of creativity might be seen by the wider community
“ techies” who understand new media and who are into IT, web design and operation

Everyone who comes aboard will have the capacity to engage brains, love the idea of “find a way”, of working with others
and who live to innovate. Whilst it is vital that we enjoy doing what we shall do, the whole is a serious project that might,
just, mature to interesting things. Time and circumstance have afforded us a serious opportunity and we are helped by the
fact that the project is building on some good work and substantial resources already in place.
