Statement of the Michigan Court Officers, Deputy Sheriffs and Process Servers’
Association (MCODSA) in response to the 12-count felony indictment against Court
Officer Garry Flanary in the 53rd District Court, Howell, Michigan:

In early 2017, the Michigan Court Officers, Deputy Sheriffs and Process Servers’
Association (MCODSA) received a grievance that was filed against one of its members, Garry
Flanary, by a Michigan attorney. The attorney alleged that Garry Flanary failed to turn over the
proceeds from a court ordered seizure. Upon investigation of said grievance, it was determined
that the grievance should be turned over to law enforcement for further investigation. MCODSA
would like to commend the Michigan State Police for their two-years of work on this complex
case.

MCODSA's stated mission includes assuring that each of its members is of the highest
integrity, and consistent with that mission MCODSA will continue to vigorously act on any
grievance filed with MCODSA against any of its members. MCODSA believes that the citizens
of our State should expect Court Officers to adhere to the law and set an example for others to
follow. We also believe that Court Officers, as with any citizen accused of violation the law,
deserve, and should receive due process before judgments are made. We also trust in our
judicial system to provide redress to the parties in any civil action, should it be determined that
any money paid by a civil defendant to Court Officer Garry Flanary was not received by the
plaintiff in said case.
