GRADE LEVEL: Grade 8
TIME ALLOTMENT: 1hr
LEARNING COMPETENCY:
Determine the required amount of an adequate nutrition.
OBJECTIVES:
Identify the proper amount of nutrients for teenagers.
Prepare a well- balanced menu based on the recommended food pyramid.
Recognize the importance of balance diet for nutrition and wellness.

ELLICIT
Ask the students, what are the ways in taking care of the digestive system?

ENGAGE
Play a dance video of wellness from a commercial.

EXPLORE
Am I Eating Right?
Objectives:
 Prepare a well- balanced menu based on the recommended food pyramid.
 Recognize the importance of balance diet for nutrition and wellness.
Materials:
Foods and beverages prepared by the students
Plate
Glass
Tray
Spoon and fork

Procedure:
1. Wash your hands thoroughly/ use plastic gloves in handling foods to be prepared.
2. Decide what foods to include in your plates for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
(Note: Consider the arrangement of food in the plate)
3. Answer the guide questions correctly.
4. Pick three members from your group that will present your plates for breakfast, lunch, and
dinner.

Q2. What are the sources of protein in the foods that you prepared?
Q3. What are the sources of fats in the foods that you prepared?

The Food Pyramid for teenagers recommends eating a variety of foods to ensure that all
nutrients are provided in proper amount and balance. The recommended number of servings vary
across age, activity level, gender, if pregnant or breastfeeding, or body size.

Create a 3-day menu that that follows the daily nutritional requirement as identified in the
food pyramid for teenagers.
