Dear 3rd Grade Parents,

For the past few weeks your child has been preparing selections for our 3rd grade Winter
Music Program, “The Rhythm of the Season.” During our program we will
commemorate the sounds of the season as we observe the various holidays and festivities
celebrated in December. Please mark your calendars for this important event. It will be a
delightful evening of music that you will not want to miss!

We will be performing on Thursday, December 5th at 6:45 pm in the Pattison

Elementary Gym. We ask that you please bring your child to Pattison at 6:30 pm and
have them go to their homeroom before the music program begins. There will be a PTA
meeting at 6:30 pm and the program will directly follow the meeting in the gym.

On December 5th, your child will need to be dressed in a plain white top, solid black
bottoms and black dress shoes. Specific examples are below:

 White collared shirt for young men/ white blouse for ladies. This shirt may be
short sleeve, three quarter sleeve or long sleeve. Shirts with or without buttons
are acceptable.
 Ladies will need black dress slacks or a skirt; skirt must go to the knees (black
stockings can also be worn).
 Young men will need black dress slacks.
 Black dress shoes and black socks are also encouraged.

No pictures, designs, or stripes may be on their shirt, pants, or skirt. Attire for our winter
concert can be found at stores such as Walmart, Target, Academy or JCPenney. Please
make arrangements to purchase your child's attire if you don’t already have these items.

We will also have two daytime performances, one at 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, to sing for the
teachers, staff, and students. Please have your child wear their performance attire to
school on Thursday, December 5th.

There are also several speaking parts available for those students wishing to speak in our
program as well as a few vocal solos/duets/ensembles. Students will be auditioning for
these parts while in music class on 11/6-11/14. All speaking and singing parts will be
passed out on 11/18, giving students about a few weeks to memorize their part. If you

 Music Volunteers Needed
If you would like to help with the winter music program in any way, please check
off below where you can be of assistance! Thank you in advance for your time!

____ I am interested in helping Mrs. Mauterstock & Ms. Dixon with the
decorations for the music program. (This may include helping to make a banner,
cutting out decorations, ect.)

*We will begin putting up decorations on Tuesday, December 3rd after school in the gym at
3:30 pm and will hopefully be finished by 5:00 pm. Please come at any time to help if you can!

____ I am interested in blowing up balloon bouquets on the morning of the

program on Thursday, December 5th. I can meet between 7:45 and 8:00 am to
begin. (We will finish with balloons by 8:30 am.)
We usually have 5-6 PTA parents that are able to come in and assist with balloons on the
morning of a music program. Please let us know if you are available to help!
