Fashion is mentally designed to have a now and tomorrow to be forgotten, where

the last look, the lowest price or the designer in vogue are of utmost importance
and quantity is valued more than quality. For the first time in history we live the
consumption of clothes as a disposable good when buying a cheap dress for an
appointment and use it only once or twice.

fashion has had to understand that trends are increasingly ephemeral and that
dressing well is no longer exclusive to millionaires. If today Burberry or Hermès
generate a collection in Europe, tomorrow it will be copied by a fast fashion firm.

Clothes grow alarmingly. Most Americans have closets full of clothes if not even
over-saturated. Some of these garments, 3%, are manufactured in the United
States, less than half of what was registered in 1990. While the national factories
are empty, our thirst for buying cheap and imported clothing keeps the cash
registers of many stores that raffle the current economic crisis.

Recognized brands also have an obligation to dramatically reduce the amount of

water and energy they spend on producing and selling their clothes, while at the
same time offering consumers fashionable garments made from recycled and
ecological materials.
