1.

Identify your PC1 and PC2


2. Attach cross cable to PC 1 and PC2 LAN port
3. Check the computer name and workgroup
a. Press the Start button
b. Choose COMPUTER Right click > Properties
Note: Workgroup of PC1 and PC2 should be the
same
Ex: Workgroup: Workgroup
4. Turn off the firewall
a. Control Panel > Windows Firewall
b. Turn Windows Firewall on or off
c. On Private Network Settings > Click the radio
button “Turn off Windows Firewall
d. On Public Network Settings > Check the radio
button “Turn off Windows Firewall
e. Press OK
5. Configure IP Address
a. Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center
b. Click Change Adapter Settings
c. Right click LAN > Properties
d. Click IPv4 > Properties
e. Click the radio button “Use the following IP
Address”
f. Use the following for PC1:
IP address: 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1

g. Use the following for PC2:


IP address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1

h. Press OK

6. Test connection:
a. On PC1
i. Press Windows Icon +R (RUN)
ii. Type cmd > OK
1. Type ping 192.168.0.2 -t
2. Press enter
Note: there should be a reply from the IP
b. On PC2
i. Press Windows Icon +R (RUN)
ii. Type cmd > OK
1. Type ping 192.168.0.1 -t
2. Press enter
c. Note: there should be a reply from the IP

7. Allow Remote Connection (PC1 and PC2)


a. Press Start button > Computer (right click)
Properties
b. Click Remote Settings
c. The Check box “Allow Remote Assistance
Connections to this computer” must be checked
d. Click Advanced
i. Remote control must be checked
ii. 6 hrs for Invitations
iii. OK
e. Click the radio button “Allow remote
connections to this computer”
f. OK

8. Create new account (PC2)


a. Control Panel > User Account
b. Manage another account
c. Create a new account
d. Name: TeodoraAlonzo
e. Administrator
f. Create Account
g. Click TeodoraAlonzo account > Create password
h. Password: 12345678 and confirm password
i. Provide a hint for your password
j. Click create password button

9. Use Remote Desktop connection (PC1)


a. Start > type Remote Desktop Connection
b. Computer: 192.168.0.2
c. Click Show Options
d. User name: TeodoraAlonzo
e. Connect
f. Press YES to continue

10. Create new file (PC1)


a. On desktop, right click > New > Folder
b. Folder name: lastname_PC1
c. Logout

11. Check the folder (PC2)


a. Login into the created account TeodoraAlonzo
b. Check if the folder created by PC 1 is there.
