Pro-Pav History
Pro-Pav has changed hands a number of times in the last eight
years. They have been traditionally viewed as a low cost paver
manufacturer. Most of their past sales have originated near
localized dealers.

Owners in the past eight years:

1. Allatt
2. Ingersoll-Rand
3. Champion
4. Global Paving Products
5. Pro-Pav (Employee Owned)
6. Wirtgen - purchased from employees in 2001

Increased Sales Activity

Wirtgen is a large European manufacturer of reclaimers,
stabilizers, mills and Hamm compactors. Wirtgen markets their
products to the world wide road construction industry. Wirtgen is
now trying to penetrate the North American market with their
asphalt paving machinery line. To help solidify their move,
Wirtgen has purchased the former Pro-Pav line of asphalt pavers.
Wirtgen plans to promote this line of asphalt pavers in North

Vogele Undercarriage

• Goodyear does not specialize

in track belts.
• The absence of the Chevron
pattern may create a rough
ride.
• The small bogie wheels will
carry a high PSI.
• The propel motor and the
hydraulic hoses are exposed to
the outside of the mainframe.

Vogele Hopper

• Feeder gates prevent an even

flow of material.
• The large chain guard that is
located in the center of the
hopper will prevent the even
flow of material.
• The cross tubes that are
located under the hopper do
not provide enough support.

9
Screed Extensions Slope Mechanically

• The frame extensions do not

slope, only the screed plates
will slope.
• The frame extensions will not
retract without readjustment of
the screed plates.

Rear Screed Extension Strike-Off Plate

• Pre-strike-off plates are fixed to

the extension frames and do
not slope with the screed
plates.
• Fixed strike-off plates will
prevent an even flow of
material under the screed
plates.

10
Operator Station
• The operator console slides
from side to side on a tube
assembly. The tube assembly
prevents operator mobility
around the platform.
• Visibility from the operator
platform to the hopper is poor.
• The electrical harness that
attaches to the station has a
free range of motion that will
allow wire movement.

Electrical Harness and Components

• Crimp style connectors are
used on the electrical
harnesses.
• The individual wires are all
colored black and identified
with tape.
• The access cover for the
electrical components is not
water tight.

11
Tow Point and Fuel Tank

• The tow point cylinder is not a

commercial grade cylinder.
• An electric motor is used to
power the wash down pump.

Hydraulic Cylinders

• The hydraulic lines that connect

to the hydraulic cylinders on the
hopper are exposed to foreign
objects.
• The hydraulic cylinders are
located within close proximity of
the front wheels.
