RULES AND REGULATIONS

Cebu Popular Music Festival

1. The festival is open to all Filipino songwriters, local Cebu residents or migrants elsewhere in the
country or abroad. Active members of CAFI, including its subsidiaries and affiliates are disqualified
from joining the competition.

2. An entry must be an original unpublished composition (have not been aired on radio and other
broadcast media including social sites like facebook, youtube and the likes)
of an individual or a collaborative work of a composer and his lyricist.

3. The 40th Cebu Pop edition shall be an open category. No themes, genres or categories to follow.

4. The screening committee will select 12 finalists for the competition.

5. There will be one winner who will be declared as Grand Champion and will receive P100,000.00.
First Runner Up will receive P75,000,00. Second Runner Up will receive P50,000.00. All the non-
winners will receive P20,000.00 each.

6. A contestant may submit as many entries as he/she wants of this year’s competition.. However,
only one song can become finalist. Should the song becomes a finalist of the contest, the
composer must willingly assign to CAFI the perpetual rights to preserve, promote and
protect the song on the authors’ behalf.

7. Lyrics must be in Cebuano or Bisaya. If in the lyrics a strange word is used, the contestant must
provide a footnote in the lyric sheet explaining the use of the said word. The lyric sheet should not
contain the name of the composer and/or the lyricist.

8. A song entry may be submitted preferably with only guitar or piano/keyboard accompaniment
but not limited if so desired by the composers.

9. A song entry must not exceed four (4) minutes inclusive of the intro and extro.

10. Submission of entries can be done in either ways:

A. Personal submission:
- one entry form for each song duly signed by both the composer and lyricist
- 12 copies of the lyric sheets on (names must not appear)
- CD format of the song entry
- to be submitted to Cebu Arts Foundation Inc. c/o UV Alumni Office
B. Online submission:
- only one email for each song entry
- pdf/doc or jpeg file of the entry form and lyrics (font size 12, long bond paper)
- mp3 audio file format of the song entry
- to be submitted at this email address: cebupopmusic@gmail.com
*only those names appearing on the entry forms shall be recognized as the official authors of the
song entries.

11. Entries that did not make it as finalist may be taken back by the composer a week after the
screening upon presentation of proper documents.

12. All finalists are required to attend the composers’ meeting. He or She must abide with the
guidelines and conditions set by the contest organizers. CAFI reserves the right to disqualify any
entry that does not conform to the stated rules and regulations.

13. Entry forms may be obtained from CAFI, c/o University of the Visayas Alumni Office. One may
request entry forms thru cebupopmusic@gmail.com.
