THE DEVELOPMENT OF MONOPOLY GAME AS A LEARNING MEDIA TO

ENHANCE THE INTEREST AND THE LEARNING OUTCOMES


ON ECONOMIC SUBJECT FOR THE STUDENTS OF SMA NEGERI 2
BANGUNTAPAN ACADEMIC YEAR 2018/2019

ABSTRACT

This study aims to: 1) developed learning media of economic monopoly game, 2) find out the
feasibility of learning media in economic monopoly game based on the assessment of material
experts, media experts, economic learning practitioners, and students responses, and 3) find out
the enhancement in interest and the learning outcomes of students after using learning media of
economic monopoly game is being developed.

This study uses the method of research and development (RnD). In the validation stage,
economic monopoly learning media is assessed by the experts, which are material experts
(lecture of Faculty of Economy UNY), media experts (lecture of Faculty of Economy UNY), and
the learning practitioners (economic teacher). On the trial stage, economic monopoly learning
media is done by two trials, which are small group trials and field trials. The subject of this study
is the 1st grade students of the social program 3 of SMA N 2 Banguntapan. The instruments of
collecting data are in the form of questionnaires of students field testing and also learning
practitioners. The technique of data analysis is using analysis of qualitative descriptive with a
quantitative approach.

The result of the study shows: 1) developed media of economic monopoly through several
stages, which are initial information collecting stage, planning stage, developing stage, validating
stage, and the trial stage, evaluation stage, and also the final product; 2) the economic monopoly
learning media is declared suitable for learning of economy, also included in very well criteria.
The feasibility of economic monopoly learning media is assessed based on: a) the material expert
got a final average score of 3.6 to include in very well criteria, b) the media expert gained a final
average score of 3.9 with very well criteria, c) the learning practitioners is obtained a final
average score of 3.71 in very well criteria, and students responses from small group get final
average score of 3.493 in very well criteria, also field trial obtained a final average score amount
for 3.496 include in very well criteria.
