Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

This lesson idea will support all of students because they will be able to visually and auditory hear my lesson.
This enhances student’s engagement by allowing them to test their knowledge in a stress freeway. This
represents every student by allowing them to see the content with a picture for each question. Furthermore,
it applies to allowing students to freely express themselves by giving them the choice of what they would like
to create their Kahoot about.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
I will start my lesson by showing students a video about weather and the season as an introduction to the
content they will see in the Kahoot quiz. I will then show them pictures and describe each weather condition
with the seasons and have them play a matching game with each. After this I will introduce the SRT activity by
doing a practice Kahoot so they can see how it works.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☒ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

Student Response and Assessment Tools
During the SRT activity students will play the Kahoot game and teacher will assess students after each
question and address any misconceptions with questions that a lot of the students got wrong. Student iPad
are needed for each student to participate. The activity should last about 15 minutes.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
I will do this as a form of review for my students and use the wrong answers to clear misconceptions.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the SRT activity I will have students divide into groups and allow them to create their own Kahoot games
to quiz each other. This is not only a form of review for them, but the students get to see the content in a
student friendly way.
How will the data be used?
The data of the Kahoot game will be used to asses what a need to reengage my students in. This can also be
shared with parents as a way to see how they can help their student at home by knowing what material to
focus on. I will also share it with the class but in an anonymous way. I will do this by addressing the answers
after each question and clarifying the information for those students who got the wrong answer.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
MY personal goal with this activity was to teach alongside every question to deepen their understanding. I
hope to see if this kind of teaching really benefits my students by allowing them to be exposed to material
in a new and engaging way.

Reflective Practice:
I feel this impacts student learning by not only allowing students to create their own Kahoot but also by
learning using a fun and anonymous way to test their knowledge. I would further this lesson by adding more
detailed questions to the Kahoot now that they have been exposed to the general concept of it.
