1.0 PURPOSE

To check and ensure that piping system is leak free.

2.0 SCOPE

The scope of this method is intended for the testing prior to vertical and horizontal pipe
connection and system completion.

3.0 PREPARATION OF WORKS

3.1 Preparation work by Irvine Construction Corp.

3.2 Verify for the availability of the area or test location for testing.

3.3 Check for the availability and location of water supply to be used for Hydro-
testing.

3.4 Check for the nearest drain location for draining purposes.

3.5 Check all valves if properly installed and is in closed position.

3.6 Prepare work request informing TPM and other trades of the Hydro Test.

3.7 Prepare Test form with attached key plan and approved shop drawings for the
piping system to be tested.

3.8 Prepare materials equipment needed in hydro test.

3.9 Secure and isolate the area to be tested by placing a caution tape on the area.

FOR HYDROSTATIC TESTING

4.0 MATERIALS

4.1 Test Manifold (complete w/ gate or ball valve as isolation valve, check, and
drain valve approved or recommended pressure gauge w/ updated calibration
certificate or a Manual test pump for small waterline pipings like the
waterline at any comfort rooms.

4.2 Pressure Test Pump including pressure hose.

4.3 Water supply, supply hose and drum (for draining purposes)

4.4 Test Board signage for recording initial and final readings details duly signed
ICC QA/QC and TPM inspectors.

4.5 Digital Camera for documentation of test readings

5.0 PROCEDURE

5.1 Check the area to be tested. Check if it complies with the approved plan.

5.2 Secure and check all pipe connections including valves.

5.3 Check and record calibration certification number and dates indicated at the
back of the pressure gauge.

5.4 Charge the piping system with water. Ensure that no air tapped in any section
of the system.

5.5 All cold water pipework shall be hydraulically tested for a period of not less
than 6 hrs. to a pressure if not less than one and half times the working
pressure, but in any case the testing pressure shall not be less than 150 psi for
cold water.

5.6 Record the initial reading pressure with TPM inspector witnessing the initial
test.

5.7 Secure the area and leave the piping system under pressure for the next 2hrs.

5.8 After 6 hrs. check and inspect the system under testing. Inspect and record
the final reading in pressure gauge. The pressure must be within +- psi range
(tolerance) from the initial reading.

5.9 If the pressure reading drops more than 5 psi. locate the possible locations of
leaks by visually checking water leaks in joints connection and valves.

5.10 If leak is found, mark down with permanent marker or any marking materials
that will be easy to see. Repair all the leaks on any joint connections. Repeat
the test procedures until the pipe under testing becomes leak free and or until
the pressure is +- psi reading.

5.11 After the testing, slowly release the pressure on the piping by gradually
opening the drain valve then start to drain all the water from the piping until
it reach the 0 psi reading

5.12 Accomplish the test report and affix signature to form with the persons
conducted and witnessed the testing.

5.13 Submitted formal Test Report.

6.0 QUALITY

6.1 Secure that the installed pipes free of leak thru proper inspection of QA/QC
Engineers/Representatives as indicated on the procedure.

7.0 SAFETY

7.1 To comply with safety plan & job hazard analysis plan by securing work
permit and strictly implementing work safety standards.

8.0 JOB HAZARD ANALYSIS
