CE 5402 Engineering Geology – Filed Visit Report

Block Summary
(1) Size: Length : 85 m, Width: 120 m, Depth: 13 m
(2) Phenomenon: The damage on the road A016 is developed along the ditch of
the road, and the road repair is repeated. Along both streams, bank erosion has been
proceeding. Activity of landslide movement will begin after heavy rain.
(3) Monitoring Result:
A After the rainfall on the end of December, remarkable movement such as open
cracks and gaps were observed on the A016 road.
As for the inclinometer installed in the area, displacement is not observed because
it was installed after rainy season.
Activity: Extremely High Activity (Mainly During Rainy Season)
(In was observed by monitoring results and field investigation)
(1) Size: Length : 190 m, Width: 150 m, Depth: 20 m
(2) Phenomenon: Height of the scrap is about 3 m. Continuousness is minor scrap
is not clear, However the abnormal surface is observed in this block and a small
water pool is observed after heavy rain.
(3) Monitoring Result:
As for the pipe strain gauge, After the rainfall on the end of December, remarkable
B movement was observed with 11.50 m, 17.50 m, 17.50 m and 24.50 m, and also the
displacement of the extensometer was extended.

field investigation)
(1) Size: Length : 370 m, Width: 180 m, Depth: 30 m
(2) Phenomenon: Height of the scrap is about 5 m and bare ground is observed.
Continuousness is minor scrap is clear. The abnormal surface is observed in this
block too.
(3) Monitoring Result:
C As for the inclinometer, remarkable movement was not observed. On the other hand
as for the extensometer, after the heavy rainfall in the December, a continuous
displacement is observed.

(1) Size: Length : 500 m, Width: 180 m, Depth: 30 m
(2) Phenomenon: A scrap located along the estate road and the outline figure is not
clear. After heavy rain, road is flooded, the water flows into the landslide area, and
the groundwater is supplied from the above slope. When the landslide will occur,
there is a possibility for the influence to reach this block.
D (3) Monitoring Result:
As for the inclinometer, remarkable movement was not observed. On the other hand
as for the extensometer, after the heavy rainfall in the December, a continuous
displacement is observed.
