Abstract

Maher Zain’s song code mixing brings the contribution of

sociolinguistic setting that becomes phenomena that often observed. There
are many functions of the using code mixing in informal and formal style
conversation among people who to share their feelings and also educational,
ethnic, culture, and social background. Although, people avoid the formal
style conversation because, they have different background like social status,
language loyalty, and absolutely formally. The occurrences of Code mixing
happened in class room, movies, novels and also song lyrics, especially in
Maher Zen’s song lyrics. Using Functions performed by the use of code mixing
may be classified in terms of Halliday’s (1973) framework: the ideological
and interpersonal, the former is used to convey information, clarify, explore,
etc. whereas the latter is used to communicate and express personal
experience. Ideological functions include the following: inquire, instruct,
explain, discuss, greet, express anger, etc. and interpersonal functions include
cheating, be humors, kidding, etc. Based on the result above, for the students
whom learn English and Linguistics, this research aims to give more
knowledge that the reason of using code mixing varies, not because of the
lack of vocabulary only. Knowing the speech function and types of code
mixing are also important. Therefore, we will not easy judge someone who
uses code mixing as the result of having the lack of vocabulary.

Abstrak

Judul Campur kode lagu Maher Zain memberi konstribusi dalam

sosiolinguistik yang menjadi fenomena yang sering di amati. ada banyak
fungsi campur kode yang di gunakan dalam gaya percakapan non-formal dan
formal oleh masyarakat yang ingin membagi perasaan mereka dan juga
dalam pendidikan, suku, budaya, dan latar belakang social. walaupun
kebanyakan masyarakat menghindari gaya percakapan formal karena latar
belakang mereka berbeda seperti status sosial, setia pada bahasa dan pada
suatu yang benar-benar formal. Fungsi kegunaan ditunjukan dengan
penggunaan pencampuran kode yang diklasifikasikan menurut kerangka

mempelajari bahasa inggris dan linguistik,penelitian ini bertujuan untuk
memberi pengetahuan lebih mengenai penggunaan macam-macam
pencampuran kode.Bukan hanya sekedar kekurangan kosakata.mengetahui
fungsi kata dan jenis-jenis pencampuran kode juga penting.oleh karena itu
kita tidak akan begitu mudahnya menghakimi seseorang yang menggunakan
pencampuran kode sebagai hasil dari kekurangan kosata.

INTRODUCTION

way people communicate in their
daily life. For instance, people who

buy something to eat, but we do
not have any money to buy, of
course we will not be able to buy
something to eat. It is also the

in different subfields of linguistics.

only linguistically but in terms
relevant to popular culture.
CONCLUSION
This study was a qualitative

song lyrics, and (2) the impacts to
hearer of code mixing used in song
lyrics by Maher Zen’s album.
