KRITIKA KULTURA: ON THE ONLINE JOURNAL OF PAUL DE

GUZMAN & DARYLL DELGADO

As for the journal made by Paul de Guzman and Daryll Delgaado novel

named: “The Marginaliad: Reading Gina Apostol’s, The Revolution According

to Raymond Mata”, this journal talks about the life of Raymond Mata, his

journeys, observations and evolution of the Revolution here in the

Philippines, the life of Jose P. Rizal and lastly the critiques made by other

novelist about the said novel.

I agree with both novelist on what’s their point with regards to their

views about Revolution and their critics against other novelist pertaining to

the said novel. The Revolution is symptomatic of the natural issue that

torment Philippine history for example the EDSA Revolution’s, it is one of the

most important events contributing to the evolution of our Revolution,

people, nurses, priests etc., gathered in one place to oust the incumbent
president is historical, but for me the said Revolution is a failure why?

Because it restored the power of the oligarchs created by colonial powers

and the Spanish method of revolution. The heroine of EDSA essentially

reestablished the pre-martial law structure and so the Philippines political

and economic structure except for the part when making one-person to rule

is difficult. The Revolution makes a compelling case for contingency in our

history, it envisions a country built upon the re-emergence of marginalized

voices and revisioning of the history, to sum up the Revolution is not healthy

and it does not improve the lives of the Filipino people. The novel itself,

performs the country based on the generation through the critics of other

novelist’s.
