Formative Assessment Activity 8 Question 2

Your organisation installs home theatre equipment. You have several teams that

carry out installations and each team is overseen by a supervisor. One of your

supervisors has resigned and you now need to source skilled labour to fill that

position. You feel that some of the team members might be suitable for the position.

What recruitment strategy might you use in this situation? How would you do this?

(100–150 words)

I would use an internal recruitment process because I believe that current employees

are suitable for the supervisor position. An internal recruitment process provides

employees with career advancement opportunities and job security.

I would inform employees of the job opening via intranet, in newsletters, on

noticeboards, in memos, using organisation-wide emails, word-of-mouth and

meetings.

I would ensure internal employees are given as much information about the job

(detailed position description, an outline of selection criteria that will be used,

detailed information about eligibility or job requirements and information about how

employees can apply for position. I would make clear all the selection criteria on

which the decision will be made.

I would advise each applicant of the outcome of their application and I would give

feedback as to why they were not selected and advice for future roles.
