DUE DATE: Essay due in-class on Friday 20th September

ASSESSMENT TASK DETAILS – ESSAY

For this unit, you will be required to plan, draft and submit a 600-800 word essay on the given question. You will
be expected to work on this task in class. You will be provided with a planning booklet in which to plan, draft and
revise your essay. The final version of your essay should be typed and submitted on Managebac.

ESSAY QUESTION: You will be provided this closer to the due date.

ITEMS FOR SUBMISSION:


 Completed planning booklet (handed directly to Ms Azam)
 Typed final version of essay (submitted on Managebac by the due date)
 Completed ATL skills self-reflection (submitted on Managebac by the due date)

PREPARATION FOR TASK:

You will learn how to formulate a thesis statement and structure an essay in class, including how to structure an
introduction, conclusion and body paragraph. You will also revise the essay writing process.

STANDARDS & SUCCESS CRITERIA:


You should demonstrate your knowledge and understanding:
 how the author presents and develops the characters, their challenges and backgrounds;
 messages and themes conveyed through the characters;
 own opinions and ideas;
 conclusions, comments, discussion, and evaluation of the effectiveness of the narrative, audience,
purpose.

MYP CRITERIA: The following MYP criteria will be used to assess this task:
