How to travel around the world?

Learning Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to recognize the
means of transport.

Conceptual and methodological principles:


Concepts:
The land transportation: car, train, bike, bus, motorbike.
The air transportation: hot air balloon, plane, helicopter, private jet.
The water transportation: boat, ship, jet ski, canoe.
Method:
- During the development of the class, Audio-lingual method is used. At the end of the
50s, a method for learning foreign languages known as emerged. During World War
soldiers learned other languages through the system of repeating and repeating. A
couple of decades after World War 2, this system became fashionable again due to
the need that Americans had to learn languages so as not to be left behind in the
technological battle. That was the origin of what we know today as the Audio Lingual
Method.
- In addition the Grammar-Translation method is used, since it focuses on the teaching
of the foreign language with the help of the mother tongue, in this sense and taking
into account the level in which the students are they need to associate the new
vocabulary with their native language to have a more meaningful learning.
Material and teaching and learning techniques description: During this class, the board
will be used, so that the teacher writes the vocabulary related to the topic. Similarly,
multimedia material such as computer and the video beam. The use of drawings is required
to identify the vocabulary learned. On the other hand, teacher’s own materials will be used
to strengthen the comprehension in a foreign language.

Teaching sequence.
Activities:
The teacher verifies the attendance and starts the class with a short opening to the next
activity (7 minutes)
Warm up: (20 minutes)

At the beginning of the class, students should organize themselves in a


"U" form to perform a playful activity called "hot potato" in which the
students will pass a ball while the teacher sings the hot potato, the student
who stays with the ball when the teacher says "hot" will have to answer
the question "what means of transport do you know?". Then every time a
student says a means of transportation, the teacher will write it on the
board in Spanish and then in English. To strengthen vocabulary, the
teacher will project images of the different means of transport to children, inviting them to
observe carefully.

Activity 1: (35 min.)


The children will be asked to show the objects or toys that they were asked to bring in the
previous class, so that by that means the children can associate and learn in a more efficient
way (cars, motorcycles, trains, etc.); Then we teach the children through the video that the
pronunciation and the name of the means of transport will be seen above, such as: car,
train, bike, bus, boat, ship, canoe, jet ski, plane, motorbike, helicopter, hot air balloon.

Activity 2 (35 min)


After having taught the different means of transport, we will classify the toys and objects in
three parts: the first one will be the land transportation, the water transportation and finally
the air transportation. Being divided into each group, students will have to write them in their
notebooks by drawing a picture of the means of transportation.

Final Activity
PUT THE MEANS OF TRANSPORT (35 minutes)
To finish the class, the teacher carries out an activity called " PUT THE MEANS OF
TRANSPORT" which will be developed through the following materials: a board with three
vertical boxes. The first box on the board is called "land transport", the second box is "air
transport" and the last one is "water transport" along with a dice, it consists of six sides and
since there are only three media classifications of transport, each classification must be
distributed twice. In addition to this the teacher also brought a flash cards with the images
and English words of the means of transport.
The teacher divides the students into three groups, each group must choose a leader. The
activity is that a leader moves forward and rolls the dice, depending on the category that
has touched him, he must search the flash cards for the image and the English word of a
means of transport corresponding to said classification and paste them in the proper place
on the board. The student who is wrong only in the image or only in the word, will be given
another opportunity to change the answer, in the case that he is wrong again, that group will
have no point, then the flash cards will be removed and it will be the Turn of the other group.
It will be the same if they are wrong in both, they will not have a point and the other group
will follow. If he hits both, they will be assigned the point. The group that gets the most points
will be the winner.

Evaluation practices.
Formative assessment: During this sequence, the teacher decided to evaluate formatively
due to the activities that will be carried out in the class. Students will not be evaluated as a
formal evaluation; however, activities will be carried out in which students must demonstrate
that they have paid attention to what the teacher has taught them during class.
