CHAPTER-1
1.1 Introduction:-

Cotton dust induced respiratory disorders are dramatically increased over the
globe, especially the problem is serious in the developing countries respiratory symptoms,
such as cough, phlegm, wheezing shortness of breath, chest tightness, chronic bronchitis
and byssinosis are common among workers exposed to cotton dust. However, in Ethiopia,
the magnitude of the problem is not well known and information is limited about the risk
factors. Therefore, the study was aimed to assess the prevalence of respiratory symptoms
and associated factors.
Textile industry one of major manufacturing industry, which is established across the
developed and developing countries including Africa in developing countries notably in
Africa the cotton industry occupies an important place. The cotton sector is expanding
considering the size of cotton production and the number of people employed in this sector
in Ethiopia, textile industry or cotton sector is the main economic motor that attracts
numerous work forces however, the workers are at risk of cotton dust relate respiratory
problems. But the degree of the problem is not well known and there is a scarcity of data
showing these kinds of health issues and its risk factors in Ethiopia.

What is Research?
Research is defined as a careful consideration of study regarding a particular concern
or a problem using scientific methods. According to the American sociologist Earl Robert
Bobbie, “Research is a systematic inquiry to describe, explain, predict and control the
observed phenomenon. Research involves inductive and deductive methods.”

1.2 Statement of Aim

To study about the causes of breathing in cotton dust industry workers in Nagpur MIDC
area.

1.3 Definitions
1. Breathing :-
The process of respiration, during which air in inhaled into the lungs
through the mouth or nose due to muscle contraction and then exhaled due to muscle
relaxation.
2. cotton dust:-
Cotton dust is the dust present in the air during the handling and processing of cotton.
Dust from raw cotton may contain a mixture of substances including ground up plant
matter, bacteria ,fungi, pesticides and other contaminants.
3. Industry:-

2
Industry is the work and processes involved in collecting raw materials, and
making them into products in factories.

1.4 Objectives
1. To observe the workers condition in Industry.
2. To observe the cotton industry dust in MIDC area.
3. TO observe the causes of breathing in cotton dust industry workers in Nagpur MIDC
area.

1.5 Hypothesis
There is no relationship between cotton dust and breathing problem of worker.

1.6 Scope & Limitation

Further study limitation only cotton industry in MIDC areas.
Research selected 30 workers for further study.

CHAPTER-3
3.1 Research Methodology
There are 3 types of education research
1. Historical method
2. Survey method
3. Experimental method
Research selected server method for farther study.

3.2 Tools
For the present investigation researcher used questionnaire and interview.

3.3 Sample of Study

Research selected 30 workers in cotton dust induced in MIDC Area.

CHAPTER-4
4.1 Data Analysis
Research collect the data and analysis the data then interpreted the result.

CHAPTER-5
5.1 Conclusion & Suggestion
On the basis of interpretation of data, conclusion will be drawn and suggestion will be
give for further researcher.
