Aids/materials: books, blackboard, worksheets, pencils, coloured pencils, glue.

Lesson aims: - to involve Ss in a listening task;


- to learn new words related to their room;
- to develop speaking skills;

ACTIVITY 1  Warmer: Poem


Aims: - to break the ice;
- to introduce the topic of the lesson.
Procedure: T shows SS the image of a room. T asks Ss to listen to the lines and repeat
them in order to learn the poem.. Ss repeat the poem in chorus then by random.
Interaction: T-Ss

Timing: 8 min.

ACTIVITY 2  Learning words related to the topic


Aims: - to develop speaking skills;
- to put the Ss in touch with the topic.
Procedure: T sticks images with some objects from a room and then asks Ss to look at
the Bb and repeat the new words three times in English and once in Romanian. Then
T asks Ss to say the Romanian translations of the words.

Timing: 10 min.

ACTIVITY 3  Developing listening and speaking skills


Aims: T gives Ss worksheets containing exercises. SS have to listen for a model and
then repeat the sentences in exercise 1. Then Ss listen, draw and colour: a yellow
chair, a red bed, a white wardrobe, a green desk, a blue bookshelf (exercise 2).

ACTIVITY 4  Repeating new words related to the topic
Aims: - to develop speaking skills and to get used with the new words and
expressions
Procedure: T reads the indication for exercise 3 from the worksheet. Ss have to listen
and repeat the sentences using the prepositions on and under. Ss repeat the sentences.
T corrects when necessary.

ACTIVITY 5  Using the new words related to the room


Aims: Ss will repeat and will get used with the new words
Procedure: T asks Ss questions related to the previous exercise:
“Where is the ball? / Where is the lamp? / Where is the cat? /Where is the pen? / Where is the
book? / Where is the car?”. SS will have to answer the questions. T helps when necessary.
Then SS will have to work in groups of four and do exercise 4 from the worksheet.
They have to stick the objects following the indications:
1. Put the car on the bookcase.
2. Put the book under the chair.
3. Put the cat on the bed.

ACTIVITY 6  Homework
T asks Ss to note as homework exercise 5 from the worksheet. SS have to draw a
picture of their room using the new words.
