Front Panel Display

The Front panel has a Signal level status bar and four LED’s to show the
status of the LD3.

The Signal level bar (SIG) has 8 LED’s. If the unit is receiving a suitable signal
level the LED’s will be illuminated GREEN. Typically the user should expect to
see one of the last three LED’s on the right lit indicating a good signal level.

If the signal level drops, the LED illuminated will move to the left turning
AMBER and then RED if the signal is lost completely.

The four status LED have the following functions.

Sync This is illuminated when the LD3 is locked to the selected

channel.

ID This will be illuminated when a valid subscription has been

entered and will flash if the subscription has expired.

GPS This LED will be illuminated if a GGA NMEA string is configured

to be output on the internal GPS receiver Port A. The LED will
also flash showing the amount of satellites being tracked.

DGPS This LED will be illuminated if the GGA NMEA string being
output is differentially corrected.

A typical display for normal operation is shown below indicating that the LD3
is operating as expected.

Check Unit Registration

The screen below shows whether the unit has a valid subscription. If the last
letter of the Unit Code is a D this indicates that the Unit is disabled and the
front panel ID light should be flashing or out. To obtain a valid access code it
is necessary to contact the Veripos Helpdesk as shown where upon the user
will be asked for the Unit ID (shown on front panel).

The Veripos Helpdesk can also be contacted via email

Signal and Status Information

The screen below shows the signal strength plus other status information
relating to the received signal. The most important information is the Signal
Strength which can have a maximum value of 3.5v and the status bar (SIG)
on the front panel should be GREEN until the Signal level drops to
approximately 2v where it will turn AMBER.

The bit error rate provides an indication of the signal quality and should be 7,
if it drops to 6 or 5 this will indicate a drop in signal quality.

Frequency Offset indicates how far off the set channel frequency the
demodulator is tracking. A low number is desired as a larger number indicates
that the demodulator is searching a larger bandwidth for the signal and is an
indicator of a poor signal.
