Director of Missions you!
Dr. Rick Lance, as always, does a superb job in being the orchestra conductor of many
moving ministries. For two days, we were blessed by a lot of information centered on
Alabama Baptist churches making our one mission the Great Commission. Rick and our
state missionaries do a fabulous job of making everything look easy. Yet some of them
spend almost a year (if not longer) planning this one event.

Dr. Tim Cox, pastor of Liberty Baptist Church

in Chelsea, was re-elected president. Buddy
Champion took another year as 1st vice
president, as did Morgan Bailey as 2nd VP.
These men (pictured left) make an incredible
team of friends and brothers. They led us well
through the process of parliamentary procedure,
giving to each messenger opportunity to express
themselves in a spirit of fairness and Christ-like
love. Bobby DuBois from ALSBOM, as well as
Billie Davis, finished out the team. Incidentally,
Bobby is a member of Heritage, and Billie is a member of Mountain Hill, both in the
Montgomery Baptist Association.

We had many from our Montgomery Baptist family

participate on various committees. We express our gratitude
to these brothers and sisters who carry out these often
thankless kingdom assignments. One of the highlights of the
convention was Pastors Terrence Jones and Jay Wolf
preaching at the Pastor’s Conference, and Pastor Rick
Marshall (pictured right) preaching the convention message.
You all would have been so proud, as I was. They represented
our Savior faithfully in the preaching of God’s Word.

Of course, a convention is not complete without the

camaraderie of friends and fellowship. We all had an endless
three-day supply of God’s people loving on God’s people.
The messengers seemed to gather mostly at the exhibits, where there were free books,
donuts, and coffee. We also enjoyed other gatherings from agencies, etc. that supported
the convention. It was a homecoming of God’s finest.

We are blessed and very much so to have a state convention that gives sacrificially to the
Southern Baptist Convention through the Cooperative Program. Alabama is, in fact, the
number one CP giver of all 42 state conventions. Alabama Baptists are also record-
breakers in Annie Armstrong and Lottie Moon giving.

Continue to pray for Dr. Lance, our state missionaries, our Alabama Baptist Churches
and pastors, and our Montgomery Baptist Association of Churches. Together, in Jesus’
name, we can change the world.

Striving to Be Faithful to Be Fruitful,

Neal
