Tech Then
TELEPHONES  Screwed onto walls.
 Attached with wires and
cords.
IMAGES  Every roll had between
24 – 36 images.
 Had to be taken to
camera store or a
pharmacy to be
developed.
VIDEOS  Videos were played
from VHS cassette
tapes.
 DVDs and Blu-ray disks
were used.
MUSIC  Circular records were
used to play music
 Radio stations used
circular recorders
TRAVEL  Travel was expensive
and took a long time
 Physical map
books were used
WRITTEN COMMUNICATION  Communication was by
handwritten letter or
typewriter.
 Mailed by post or by
the fax machine
 Airplanes had to be created for easier travel.
 Computers and emails were created for easier communication.
 Smartphones were created so we could have instant messaging, for taking pictures, for
streaming music and for seeing videos.
I think all of these new inventions are great for the world. We can do a lot of things that we couldn’t do
in the old days.
Now
 Smartphones have
capability with instant
messaging.
 Smartphones have
internet access.
 Smartphones take
endless images
 Digital cameras take
endless images
 Videos are streamed
over the internet
 Use streaming service
 Digital music is used
 streaming services
provide near limitless
song
 GPS and digital maps
are used
 Planes and airlines are
very common.
 We use computers to
communicate
 now fast and efficient
