Rusty Tillman HERMAN SARKOWSKY Managing General Partner Herman Sarkowsky, the Seahawks’ Managing General Partner, carries a strong combination of business exper- ience and sports management knowl- edge. Prior te investing in the Sea- hawks, Sarkowsky served as President of the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association. In addition to helping build the Trail Blazers to their NBA championship in 1977, Sarkowsky has long been active in thoroughbred breeding and racing He has served as a member of the Betiingion State Racing Commission Sarkowsky currently serves on two National Football League committees, the Finance Committee and the Retirement Board. In addition to his sports activities, Sarkowsky is the former Presi- dent of United Homes Corporation; former Vice Chairman of Levitt and Sons, Inc.; and is a lifetime member of the board of the National Association of Home Builders, He is currently on the Board of Directors of Glass Rock Products, Inc., CHG Inter- national and Cimarron Homes, Inc Also active in community affairs, Sarkowsky is a Board Member of the Seattle Foundation and Seattle Symphony along with being a past President and a Board Member of PONCHO. A graduate of the University of Washington, he is the former National Chair- man of the UW Alumni Fund and past President of the UW Presi- dents Club. Samia: JOHN THOMPSON General Manager Appointed: Named General Manager of the Seattle Seahawks on March 6, 1975. Following the Seahawks’ 9-7 season last year, Thompson was named NFL Executive of the Year by The Sporting News. In addition to serving as the Seahawks’ General Manager, he is on two National Foot- ball League committees — College-Pro Relations Committee, and the Pre- Season Schedule Committee. NFL Experience: His first NFL position was as Publicity Director of the Minnesota Vikings, when the club was formed in 1960, Thompson later served as Assistant General ‘Manager of the Vikings before assuming the position of Assistant fo the President of the National Football Conference in 1970. In 1971, he became the first full-time Executive Director of the NFL's _ Management Council. Previous Experience: Prior to moving into professional football, Thompson was Sports Information Director at the University of Washington. College: He graduated from the University of Washington as a | Journalism major. j High School: Attended South Bend High School in South Bend, _ Washington Personal: Thompson and his wife Mimi are residents of Mercer Island, a Seattle suburb. They have three children, Rick, a graduate of Hamline (Minn.) University and the Seahawks’ Train- ing Camp Director; Mike, a graduate of Colorado College; and Kathi, a graduate of Washington State University. MARK DUNCAN eereent General Manager Mark Duncan carries 23 years of Na- tional Football League experience with his position of Assistant General Manager with the Seahawks. He assumed his duties with Seattle in April of 1975 and is credited with the plan- ning and directing of the club's Kirkland office and practice complex. Before coming to Seattle, he was Director of Player Personnel with the Los Angeles Rams for two years. Duncan spent 10 years in the NFL off lice as Director of Personnel and Supervisor of Officials before Moving to Los Angeles. He broke into the NFL as an assistant coach with the San Francisco 49ers (1955-62). A member of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame, Duncan played college football and basketball at Denver University and then served as an assis- tant football coach at Colorado College and Denver before being named head coach at his alma mater in 1946. He was anassistant football coach and head baseball coach at Colorado State before Joining the 49ers. 5 DON ANDERSEN Director of Public Relations Don Andersen is in his fourth year as the Seahawks’ Director of Public Rela- tions. Andersen joined the Seattle staff in December of 1975 after serving two years in the World Football League, first as Vice President of Public Rela- tions for the league office and thenina similar capacity for the Southern Cali- fornia Sun. Prior to moving into profes- sional football, Andersen was the Director of the Athletic News Service \A at the University of Southern California for seven years. While at USC, he served as press manager for five Rose Bowl games, two NCAA basketball championship tournaments and as color commentator of USC radio broadcasts. Prior to joining USC in 1967, Andersen was an administrator with the California Interscholastic Federation for four years. DICK MANSPERGER Director of Player Personnel Dick Mansperger is in his fifth year as Director of Player Personnel with the Seattle Seahawks. One of the first employees hired by the Seahawks, Mansperger came to Seattle from Dallas, where he had been Director of Player Personnel since 1972. Prior to being promoted, Mansperger had been - a Dallas scout for six years. After play- ie ing under Dan Devine and Frank Kush Sat, at Arizona State, Mansperger joined = the ASU coaching staff in 1958 and later became head coach at Palo Verde, Calif., J.C. for two years. He coached at West Texas State in 1961 and returned to Arizona State in 1962. Mansperger then joined the UCLA coaching staff for the 1963 and 1964 seasons. He went to Dallas as a scout for one year and then coached a season at lowa (1966) before re- turning to the Cowboys. CHUCK ALLEN Director of Pro Scouting Chuck Allen is in his fifth year as a member of the Seattle Seahawks staff, He joined the organization in June of 1975 as Director of Pro Scouting. A former all-coast and all-conference player at the University of Washington, Allen was an assistant coach with the Huskies (1973-74) prior to taking his current position. Allen played nine sea- sons with the San Diego Chargers and was named to the All-American Foot- ball League team in 1961 as a rookie. He was a second-team choice in 1964. During his playing career, Allen served as the Chargers’ defensive captain. He spent 1970, 1971 and part of the 1972 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers and finished his career in 1972 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was selected to the All-Time All-Northwest team in 1976 for his play at the University of Washington and in professional football, 6 BOB ANDERSON Business Manager Bob Anderson is in his third year as Business Manager for the Seattle Seahawks. Helped in instituting acom- puter system for Seahawks ticket department. A Certified Public Accountant, Anderson was with Niemi, Holland and Scott for four years prior to joining the Seahawks. He also worked for Arthur Andersen and Com- pany in Portland for four years. Ander- son is a graduate of Central Washing- ton State College in Ellensburg, Wash | A native of the state, he was born in Wenatchee and attended Rainier Beach High School in Seattle. THOM FERMSTAD Film Director Thom Fermstad became the Seattle Seahawks Film Director in April of 1976. Fermstad came to Seattle after three years as the Minnesota Vikings’ Assistant Film Director. He has also worked on nature documentaries and short dramatic presentations in Seattle and the Minnesota area. This off- season, he produced Paper Route, a 15-minute dramatic short story. Ferm- stad has also had experience in starting film labs in Minneapolis. Prior to join- ing the Vikings, he was in the army and served a tour of duty in Viet Nam. BOB FERGUSON Dir. of Group Sales, Special Events Bob Ferguson, who has worked in the Seahawks scouting and ticket depart- ments since July of 1975, assumed his duties as Director of Group Sales and Special Events in June of 1978. Fergu- son was a three-year football letterman at the University of Washington and earned first team All-Coast honors in 1971 and 1972 asa linebacker. He grad- uated with a degree in Radio and Tele- vision Communications, Following his collegiate career, he had tryouts with the San Diego Chargers and Los Angeles Rams. He is a graduate of Federal Way High School in Federal Way, Wash. Any group wishing to view the film should contact Sandy Gregory at the Sea- hawks, 5305 Lake Washington Bivd., Kirkland, WA 98033, or call (206) 827-9777 MIKE KELLER Asst. to the General Manager Mike Keller is in his fifth year as a member of the Seahawks organization and was promoted to the post of Assist- ant to the General Manager in June of 1978. He had previously been a staff scout. A third-round draft choice by Dallas in 1972 after an All-America career as a defensive end at Michigan, Keller spent the 1973 season on Dallas’ injured reserve list and worked in the Cowboys scouting department under . the direction of Dick Mansperger, now Seattle's Director of Player Personnel. The following year he joined Dallas as a full-time scout and then joined the Seahawks in May of 1975. EARL LEGGETT, JR. Assistant Equipment Manager Earl Leggett, Jr., who served as visiting clubhouse attendant in 1976, is in his second year as Assistant Equip- ment Manager. He is the son of Earl Leggett. former Seattle defensive line coach. The 23-year-old Leggett worked in the Texas Christian Univer- sity equipment room for two years and then spent two seasons assisting the Southern California Sun equipment staff JAMES NAGAOKA Assistant Ticket Director James Nagaoka joined the Seahawks staff in June of 1978 as Assistant Ticket Director. Prior to joining the Seattie staff, he was Assistant Director of Ticket Sales and Promotion at the University of Washington, a position he held since April of 1976. A graduate of the University of Washington, he is the former President of Husky Winter Sports and worked asa public relations consultant for Goodrich, Snyder and Ohlenkamp, a public relations firm in ing the Washington staff. TIM RYAN Equipment Manager Tim Ryan, former assistant equipment manager with the Los Angeles Rams, is in his third season with the Seattle Seahawks as Equipment Manager. Ryan accepted his current position in January of 1977. Ryan, 25-years-old, was an assistant equipment manager with the Rams for six years and worked with the National Football Conference squad in the 1977 Pro Bowl game held in Seattle 8 BRUCE SCOTT Trainer Bruce Scott is in his fourth year as head trainer with the Seattle Seahawks after four years as assistant trainer with the Detroit Lions. In addition to his re- gular duties, Scott coordinates the club's off-season weight training pro- gram. He attended Ball State University and the D.T. Watson School of Physi- atrics in Leetsdale, Pa., prior to becom- ing assistant trainer at the University of Washington. After three years at the University of Washington, he spent one year as head trainer at the University of Arkansas prior to joining the Lions. He is a member of the Certified Athletic Trainers Association | RICK THOMPSON | Training Camp Director Rick Thompson joined the Seattle Seahawks staff in 1975 and has assisted the scouting department until June of 1978 when he assumed the position of Training Camp Director Thompson also assists the scouting department. He is a graduate of Ham- line University in St. Paul, Minn., where 5 he earned a degree as a Sports Admin- istration major As an undergraduate, Thompson worked for the Minnesota | o Vikings for five years. A graduate of Lincain High School in Bloomington, Minn, Thompson played high school football with linebacker Monte Johnson of the Oakland Raiders and linebacker Tom Ruud of the Buffalo Bills. | CHUCK VELTE | Ticket Director ‘Chuck Velte is in his third year as the Seahawks’ Ticket Director. Helped ini- tiaté computer system for Seahawks ticket operation. He is the Seahawks | representative to the Kirkland Cham- | ber of Commerce. Prior to joining Seattle, he was with Northwest Orient Airlines where he had been in that company's sales offices since 1973. * During that time he handled commer- cial accounts, group sales tours. pro- | motions and travel agency relations. Velte had been with Northwest Orient since 1966 in various capacities, He served as a member on the Alaska Committee of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce and was program chairman of the executive committee of the Alaska Visitors Association A licensed private pilot, Velte is a graduate of St. Thomas College in St. Paul, Minnesota 9 JIM WHITESEL Assistant Trainer Jim Whitesel is in his fourth season @s assistant trainer with the Seattle Seahawks. Prior to joining the Sea- hawks, Whitesel was head trainer at Seattle Pacific College for two years. He has also worked as an assistant trainer at Washington State and the University of Washington. Whitesel is a UW graduate and earned his Masters Degree in Sports Medicine. He is a member of the Certified Athletic Trainers Association. Whitesel grad- uated from Franklin Pierce High School in Parkland, Wash. GARY WRIGHT Director of Publicity Gary Wright is in his fourth year as Director of Publicity for the Seattle Seahawks. He joined the club after two years in the same capacity with the World Football League and Southern California Sun. He has also worked as Vice President of Operations for the Phoenix Racquets of World Team Tennis. Wright was Sports Information Director at Long Beach State for four years. While at Long Beach. he also served as color commentator for foot- ball and basketball radio broadcasts. Wright has also been a high school football coach and journalism instructor. SCOUTING STAFF CHARLES GARCIA Staff Scout Charles Garcia, a former scout for CEPO, is in his fourth season asa staff scout. Garcia played at Prairie View and graduated in 1957. After one year as athletic director and head coach at Cuero, Tex., High School, Garcia spent three years in the Army. He then served as head coach and athletic director at Hitchcock, Tex., and follow- ed that as defensive coordinator at 4 Pinkston High in Dallas, Tex. Prior to y joining CEPO in 1972, Garcia was defensive coordinator at Bishop College for four seasons. 10 RALPH GOLDSTON Staff Scout Ralph Goldston, in his fourth year as a staff scout, came to the Sea- hawks from the Chicago Bears, where he had been offensive backfield coach. Goldston played college foot- ball at Indiana and Youngstown State and then was drafted by the Phila- delphia Eagles in 1952. He played four years with the Eagles and then nine seasons with Hamilton in the Canadian Football League. He closed out his ca- reer with Montreal of the CFL in 1965. Goldston served as defensive coach for Montreal from 1966 _ through 1969 and then scouted for the Giants. He then coached at ety (1971-72) and Colorado (1973) before going to the ears. CHARLIE HALL | Staff Scout Charlie Hall is in his third year as a member of the Seattle organization as a staff scout. Prior to joining the Seahawks he was with the QUADRA scouting combine for six years. Prior to joining QUADRA, Hall was Director of Player Personnel for five years with the Houston Oilers. After graduating from Whittier College, Hall coached at Bellflower, Calif., High School and Gerritos Junior College in Norwalk, Calif., before joining John McKay's | staff at the University of Southern California. He was an assistant under McKay from 1960 through 1965. | VIC LINDSKOG Staff Scout Vic Lindskog joined the Seattle scout- ing staff in 1977 after 13 years as a scout with QUADRA. Lindskog joined QUADRA in 1964 after a career as a player and coach in professional foot- ball. Prior to breaking into scouting he was an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Rams from 1961 through 1963. He also coached for four years with the British Columbia Lions of the Cana- dian Football League and three sea- sons with the Philadelphia Eagles after playing with the Eagles for eight years. Lindskog played his college football at Stanford and coached at Stanford for two years Prior to signing as a player with Philadelphia. W JACK PATERA Head Coach Seahawks: Named head coach of the Seattle Seahawks Jan. 3, 1976. Patera originally signed a three-year contract and was given an extension through the 1980 season after his second year Patera was named NFL Coach of the Year by Associated Press. The Sport- News, the Touchdown Club of Wash- ington, D.C., and the Seattle Gold Helmet board of selectors following last season's 9-7 campaign. Patera was i also named AFC Coach of the Year by Kansas City 101 Club. Patera coached the Seahawks to a 2-12 Season in their first year of operation and fallowed that up with a 5-9 mark in 1977. Seattle's 1977 and 1978 win totals established NFL expansion records for second and third-year teams, re- spectively. Coaching Experience: Patera’s first coaching assignment was as defensive line coach for the Los Angeles Rams, where he coached the original Fearsome Foursome of Lamar Lundy, David (Deacon) Jones, Rosey Grier and Merlin Olsen. He left the Rams in 1967 to coach the defensive line for the New York Giants and then joined the Minnesota Vikings coaching staff in 1969. At Minnesota, he coached another of pro football's great defensive lines, the Purple People Eaters of Jim Marshall, Carl Eller, Alan Page and Gary Larsen. During his tenure with the Vikings, Minne- S0ta played in three Super Bowls and four National Football Con- ference championship games and compiled a 76-22 regular season record Pro Playing Experience: A fourth-round draft choice of the Balti- more Colts, Patera played from 1955 through 1957 with the Colts He then played two years, 1958 and 1959, with the Chicago Cardi- fals before closing out his career with the expansion Dallas Cowboys in 1960 and 1961. A guard and linebacker during his seven years in the NFL, Patera intercepted five passes and re- covered four fumbles during his career. College: Patera graduated from the University of Oregon in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He lettered four Seasons under Len Casanova from 1951 through 1954 and earned All-Pacific Coast Conference honors in 1954. He culminated his collegiate career with performances in the College All-Star. Hula Bowl and East-West games High School: A graduate of Washington High in Portland, Oregon, Patera lettered three years as a tackle Personal: Married the former Susan Bennett. They have four children, Michael, 23; Mary 20; John 17; and Beth, 16. The Pateras reside on Mercer Island, a suburb of Seattle. He has two brothers who have been active in athletics, Dennis and Ken. Dennis was a kicker with the San Francisco 49ers in 1968, while Ken isa former Olympic weightlifter and current professional wrestler. He was born August 1, 1933, in Bismarck, North Dakota CUTDOWN DATES National Football League clubs will observe the follow- ing cutdown dates for the 1979 season: Rosters must be trimmed to 60 players by August 14; 50 players by August 21, and 45 players by August 27 13 LARRY PECCATIELLO Defensive Coach, Linebackers Larry Peccatiello is in his second sea- son directing the Seattle defense and his fourth season as linebacker coach. Before coming to Seattle, Peccatiello coached the Houston Oilers line- i backers for four seasons. An all- \ conference receiver and a member of the William & Mary Hall of Fame, he = started his coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater in 1967 and Ae | stayed there until moving to the United States Naval Academy in 1969, where he was an assistant under Rick Forzano. In 1970, he joined Bill Peterson's staff at Florida State and followed Peterson to Rice in 1971, where he served as defensive coordinator before moving into the National Football League with the Oilers. JERRY RHOME Offensive Coach, Quarterbacks Jerry Rhome is in his fourth season coaching the Seattle quarterbacks and receivers and in his second season as the club's offensive coach. Rhome broke into coaching in 1973 at Tulsa following an eight-year career in the NFL as a player. During his career, Rhome played on three conference championship teams and was in the playoffs a fourth time. Drafted by Dallas, he played with the Cowboys from 1965 through 1968 and also saw service with Cleveland (1969), Houston (1970) and Los Angeles (1971-72). As a collegian at.Tulsa, he broke 16 NCAA passing records on his way to earning All-America recognition and being selected by the Washington Touchdown Club and Associated Press Back of the Year as a senior. He was also runner-up in the 1964 Heisman Trophy balloting JACK CHRISTIANSEN Defensive Backs Jack Christiansen, former head coac! of the San Francisco 49ers and at Sta ford University, is in his second yeara defensive backfield coach for the Se hawks. He broke into coaching as ai assistant with the 49ers in 1959 and be came head coach three gamesintothe © 1963 season. He served as head coach — through the 1967 season and had a 26-38-3 record. He joined John = Ralston's staff at Stanford in 1968 and — became head coach in 1972 and com- piled a five-year record of 30-22-3. He coached the Kansas City _ Chiefs’ offensive backs in 1977. Following a standout collegiate career at Colorado State, Christiansen played eight seasons in the NFL with the Detroit Lions and earned All-Pro recognitio six times. He played on four conterence championship teams, three NFL title winners and in the Pro Bowl five times. He inter- cepted 46 passes during his career and scored 13 touchdowns, including eight asa punt returner. Christiansen was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1970. 14 ANDY MacDONALD Offensive Backs Andy MacDonald is entering his fourth season coaching the Seattle Seahawks Offensive backs. Before coming to Seattle, MacDonald coached for three seasons at Michigan State where he was offensive coordinator. He has also coached at Colorado State (1970-71) Tulsa (1969) and lowa (1961-64), along with being head coach at Northern Arizona (1965-68), MacDonald was also a highly-successful high school coach at Flint Northern in Flint Michigan Asa collagen at Central Michigan in 1950 and 1951, he led the nation in college division passing and earned Little All- America recognition JIM MORA Defensive Line Jim Mora is in his second season in the National Football League after an out- standing Career as a college coach Mora came to the Seahawks from the University of Washington, where he was defensive coordinator for the 1978 Rose Bowl champions. He joined the University of Washington staff in 1975 after spending one year at UCLA, six at Colorado and a season at Stanford. A graduate of Occidental College, he Spent three years in the Marine Corps where he played one season at Quantico and two years at Camp Lejeune. He returned to Occidental in 1960 as an assistant coach and became head coach in 1964. His three-year head coaching record was 18-9 HOWARD MUDD Offensive Line Howard Mudd is in his second yea offensive line coach of the Seahawks. A former all-pro offensive guard With the San Francisco 49ers, Mudd joined the San Francisco coaching staff last sea: son as offensive line coach after serv: ing in a similar capacity for three ys with the San Diego Chargers. started his coaching career in 1972 as an assistant at the University of Cali- fornia. OUTLOOK OFFENSE QUARTERBACKS: Veterans — Jim Zorn is coming off his best of three professional seasons. After completing 248 of 443 passes for 3,283 yards, Zorn was named first team All-Pro by the News- paper Enterprise Association and the AFC's Player of the Yearby the Touchdown Club of Washington, D.C. His attempts, comple- tions and yardage all led the American Football Conference. Steve Myer saw limited duty last season, playing in four games in 1978. However, Myer has proven himself as a valuable backup. Last season he engineered a last-minute drive that culminated in a field goal and sent the Denver game in overtime and in 1977 he threw four touchdowns against Tampa Bay, The Seahawks are also high on reserve Sam Adkins. Rookies — Seattle will take only one new prospect to camp, Tim Ellis. Ellis, a four-year starter at Mississippi, had a free agent trial with Washington last season. RUNNING BACKS: Veterans — Talented Sherman Smith and David Sims return at running back, plus reserves Al Hunter, Tony Benjamin and kick returner Rufus Crawford. Smith has led the club in rushing each of his three seasons and has averaged 47 per carry during that period. Sims led the entire NFL in touch- downs last season with 15. Both missed four games in 1978 because of injuries. Smith rushed for 805 yards on 165 carries, a 4.9 average, and caught 28 passes for 366 yards last season, while Sims gained 752 yards on 174 carries for a4.3 average and caught 30 passes for 195 yards. Hunter closed out the 1978 season with a 133-yard and two touchdown performance against Kansas Cily. Benjamin carried only once last year after coming back froma knee injury suffered in 1977, while Crawford was used mainly as a punt and kickoff return specialist. Rookies — The Seahawks drafted a pair of running backs, Ezra Tate of Mississippi College on the ninth round and Jeffery Moore of Jackson State on the twelfth round, Other first-year hopefuls include free agents Chuck Benbow from Long Beach State, Gary Davis from Texas A&l and Vince Thomas from-Tennessee State. Thomas had a free agent trial with Cleveland last year WIDE RECEIVERS: Veterans — Steve Largent has established himself as one of the top receivers in the game. He became the Seahawks first representative to the Pro Bowl last year after catching 71 passes to lead the AFC. Largent was named first- team All-AFC by The Sporting News and was selected second- team All-NFL by Associated Press and the Newspaper Enterprise Association. Sam McCullum is coming off his best NFL season. After catching just nine passes in 1977 after off-season knee Sur- gery, McCullum rebounded by catching 37 passes for 525 yards, a 14.2 average and three touchdowns last season. Steve Raible, who had 22 catches for 316 yards, and Duke Fergerson, who had 11 receptions for 116 yards, are also proven NFL veterans. Rookies — The Seahawks will bring seven free agent candidates to camp. David Charles of Wisconsin was a three-time, second- team, All-Big Ten selection. Among the other prospects are Robert Chatman of Mississippi State, Dwayne Hall of Oregon State, Greg Laetsch of Furman, Jeff Morgan of Alabama State, Bucky Shamburger of Georgia Tech and Theodis Williams of Arkansas Tech TIGHT ENDS: Veterans — John Sawyer took over as the starter at tight end for the final five games of the year. He moved ahead of Ron Howard, who started there for two-and-a-half years. Sawyer finished the year withnine catches for 101 yards, Also returning is Brian Peets, a free agent who played in seven games last year, and Marcus Hatley, who spent the entire season on the injured reserve list after suffering a knee injury in the club's annual intra- squad scrimmage. Rookies — Four rookies.will also vie for spots on the roster, including fourth-round draft choice Mark Bell from Colorado State. Other candidates include three free agents, Tim Beyer of Oregon, Gus Hobus of Washington State and Brant Tunget of Fresno State. OFFENSIVE LINE: Veterans — Talent runs deep in the offensive line. Nick Bebout has been a starter at left tackle since joining the team in the 1976 veteran allocation. while right tackle Steve August, left guard Tom Lynch and center John Yarno came in the 1977 college draft. Bob Newton, a nine-year NFL veteran who came to Seattle on waivers in 1976 from Chicago, took over at right guard when starter Ron Coder was declared out for the season. Coder, a third-year pro, suffered a back injury in training camp. Art Kuehn, who has started 24 games at center for the Sea- hawks in three years, also returns as does backup tackle Louis Bullard. Bullard also saw duty as a short-yardage tight end last Season. Another returnee is guard Charlie Aiu. Rookies — Jim Hinesly, Seattle's eleventh-round draft choice, reports to camp with plenty of credentials. He was a first-team All-Big Ten choice and was part of an offensive line that allowed only four sacks in 342 pass attempts last year. Free agent candidates include tackle- center Bob Jordan, a sixth-round draft choice by the New York Giants in 1977; tackle Tom Jesko from Kent State; center Mark Stevenson from Western Illinois; guard Chuck Harbin from Cen- tral Michigan; and tackle Dave Hopewell from Kentucky. DEFENSE DEFENSIVE LINE: Veterans — Bill Gregory and Ernie Price joined the Seahawks early in the 1978 season and made signifi- cant contributions at defensive end. Gregory came to the Seahawks in a trade with Dallas prior to the regular season Opener and went on to set a club record with nine-and-a-half Sacks: He recovered three fumbles, including two against Cleve- land, and intercepted a pass against Oakland.
