Anderson Caviedes

Hi partners this is my transcription of my interview. Thanks

Topic of the interview: Language and culture and the influence in the way we teach.
• Date and time it was performed: September 24th 8:00pm
• Place where it was performed: via skype
• Interviewed name: Angelica Melo
• Profession: Englush teacher
• Courses in charge: 6th and 7th courses
• Summary of the answers and comments.

The culture is a factor that determines the way we teach and it’s fundamental now only to
give learners information about the language itself but also to give them the appropriate
context. It a powerful way to make the learners think more about what it has to do with
English when they know more about the music, traditions and more in a determined
English speaking country.
• Write a significant reflection about the answers of the
interviewed

As teachers we have to keep in mind that we not only teach a language but a culture that is
behind it. It’s important for the teacher to know about the culture, being immersed in the
different aspects to highlight. Learners has to be aware of the impact that culture has in the
classroom so teachers has to make an effort to make culture a priority inside the classroom
and in every activity. It’s a great chance to know more in detail what a teacher has to do in
the classroom to make English a more interesting subject.

Feedback to other students’ videos

To John Fredy Salazar

I think the answers to the interview reflect what most English teachers face in the
classroom. The challenge to not only present a language but also to present
culture. English culture is a rich tradition of centuries that learners must understand
and apply in the different activities in the classroom. Thanks

To German Caicedo

I think this is a good interview in which we can see a teacher relating the
experience and the culture and the teaching of the language. Culture is a very
important for the context, it's a powerful tool to learn English. I think it's a good
environment for promoting English.
