  Assessment

Learning for our sped students is being evaluated with AZMERIT. It provides both

instructors and students with useful feedback on the extent to which students successfully meet

learning goals. Some of the goals of examining these common evaluations are to have educators

discuss and analyze their style and content of question-writing, individual plans for student

success, and an opportunity to examine what changes need to be made during curriculum

planning and classroom instruction. It involves teachers as well to improve their teaching styles

to identify our strengths and weaknesses, we as teachers also struggle to find another way to

teach the curriculum. Anywho, some schools have same format of assessments because District

requires them to teach it and schools are to be tested to see if they are teaching their

requirements not only that but to see that they are understanding the subject.

To measure students' weaknesses and strengths all schools have a statewide test that is called

AzMERIT these assessment is given to students at the end of April or May these performance

how students are doing in English, Math and Writing. Scores are given to parent in mail at the

end of the summer in between June or July this measures whether our students are on track to

succeed or whether he/she needs to spend extra time learning a subject. Evaluations can be

effective tools to support our students. The state needs this information so that they have an idea

that teachers are actually teaching the curriculum. Even though every teacher has their own

teaching style students are to be taught what the district hands them it doesn't really matter how

they teach it, it's just a matter of fact that they are actually teaching our students the curriculum,
Special Ed can be a challenge to teach some of the students may not remember what they’re

being taught in that case standardized test may be harder for them since teachers are not allowed

to read the passage to them. State wants to know how much they know and how much they’ve

learned throughout the school year even if it’s just a bit of a grow. Most of the time the students

might not understand the way they are asking questions to them and they might need help to

understand the questions but teachers unfortunately are not allowed to help them in the

standardized test which may cause low grades in these test

Special education students are not only tested with easy AZ merit my mentor assigned ABCs

over the weekend and they are to practice them with their parents and by the end of Friday they

are too tell the teacher what letter he/she learned. We need to find strategies for students to use

when taking these assessments. I believe AZmerit is good to see our students development.
