I. Brief History of the Business

BSLTan Car care is a car wash business and also a car workshop (talyer) they
have been in the business for 3 years. The owner of the business is still working as an
accountant. The owner came up of this business because her husband, the husband also
have a buy and sell car business that is why the business owner thought “how about we
put a business that is related to your business – owner of the carwash” so that’s why the
owner came up of the car wash and car workshop business.

II. Interview

1. Can you provide me with a description of your business?


Interviewee – It’s a two in one business, we have a car wash and a car workshop (talyer)

2. What is your background? Education, Work Experience


Interviewee – The owner finished in college as an Accountancy student and she’s still
working to her profession.

3. How long have you been in business?


Interviewee – It’s been three years.
4. What type of business form do you have, sole proprietorship, partnership,
corporation?-
Interviewee – Sole proprietorship.
5. What are the advantages of this form of business ownership?
Interviewee – Being a sole proprietorship in this business has advantage and dis
advantage ofcourse, the advantage are I can have all the profit and I can decide whatever
I want in my business.
6. How did you get started in this business?
Interviewee – The owner’s husband has a buy and sell car business that is why the owner
put a business that is related to her husband business.

7. How did you get the background and skills necessary to run this type of business?
Interviewee – The owner has this business minded set to her that if there’s a chance for a
business even it’s not related to her passion or profession she will learn and grab the
opportunity but with the help also of her husband.
8. How do the social, economic, environmental, technological, legal and political
environments impact your business?
Interviewee – Maybe not too much but they continue the law that no one can buy a car if
there’s no parking lot it will lessen the people of having a car and it will also lessen our
customer.
9. Do you know who your competitors are?
Interviewee – Yes, just around this area along this road.
10. How do you market your business? How are people aware of your business?
Interviewee – We have a Facebook page BSLTan Carcare and we put tarpaulin in front
so that the customer pass us by they will see what we offer.

11. Where do you see your business in the ten years?


Interviewee – Obviously we want our business to still continue and have a lot of
customers and we also want to branch out.

12. Do you plan to compete in the global market place? If yes, how? If no, why not?
Interviewee – No.
13. How has technology, such as computers and the internet, impacted on how you
conduct business?
Interviewee - It helps a lot because we can our tasks easier and can promote our product
through social media.

14. Why is your business located at this site?


Interviewee – Because this is one of the main road of Pasig and there’s a lot of car
passing by.
15. Whom do you seek advice from for your business?
Interviewee – The owner seek advice to her husband ofcourse.

16. What do you do with your profits?


Interviewee – It’s just circulate.

17. Do you have a business plan to operate your business?


Interviewee – Yes we do, but I don’t want to elaborate.

18. Does your business have a stated mission statement, the reason that this business
exists?
Interviewee – (no answer)
19. Do you have employees? How many? What are their duties and functions?
Interviewee - Yes we have eight employees, they only handle about car and I supervise
them and handling the payment.

20. Do you do marketing for your business?


Interviewee - Yes I do.
21. Can you describe your customers?
Interviewee – Most of the customer are just walk in or passers-by and sometimes
relatives and friends.

22. Why do your customers select you over your competitors?


Interviewee – Maybe because if what we offer as I said earlier we offered a two in one
service for them so it won’t be hassle to them to look for another carwash and car
workshop.

23. Are there any ethical concerns that your type of business must deal with?
Interviewee – Just a customer and employee relation about discrimination but nothing
more.

24. How do you overcome these ethical problems?


Interviewee – We make that we trained the employees to handle a situation like that.
25. What is your management style?
Interviewee - In this kind of business, we only have a boss which is the owner and next
in line is me I’m the supervisor.

26. What are the biggest issues for running this business?
Interviewee – It just small things like some of the employees are sometimes are headed
and the shortage of the water this day is giving us hard time.
27. What is the future for this type of business?
Interviewee - Well this type of business is just a small business, we help people that are
underground we employ them if they are skilled ofcourse and this type of business will
surely continue in this business.
28. If something happens to you, what will happen to your business?
Interviewee – Well if something happens to the owner the husband will surely continue
the business.

IV. Observation

What we observed about the business from the gate of the shop until the back area
of the shop they are very accommodating. The business are not only a car wash and a car
workshop but they also have Kambingan or canteen, which the customer can eat while
they’re waiting for their car to finish and as you can see in the first picture they also have
an Aircon repair and a massage business. About their place it’s quite big because their
cater a car so they need a big place to operate the business and we also notice that even
though it’s lunch time they still have many customer waiting for their car to finish so it
just says that their business is going well. About their employees we observed that they
are working hard because it’s not easy to wash a car because of their sizes even though
it’s hard you can see to their faces that they are not struggling and they always smiling.
About the supervisor his accommodating he allows us to interview him without getting
anything from us but we still give him a small token for thanking him for letting us
interviewed him.

V. Conclusion

In general, car wash is a nice business to get into if you are into cars like the
owner of BSLTan Car Care is somehow related to that. The BSLTan Car Care is a car
wash and car workshop (talyer) business. Car wash is still in demand in the business
industry because it is for the people that don’t have time or they are too busy to clean
their own car well most of the people are like that so it’s in demand. The important factor
of the business is that the people are able to save their time for other things and with this
kind of business they also helps the Government because they provide work for the
people that are undergrad but skilled.
